Did this a few weeks ago - 'de-lensed' the e36. Basically, there is a layer of glass which sits between the projector and the front of the light which doesn't do a lot (doesn't aim/focus the light in any way), and was really just the style that BMW adopted in the early 90s.

So this is old:

This is new:

Oh, I also went back to Orange front indicators for the GDM tyte look :D

I added footwell lighting to my Mondeo ST24 by installing two festoon bulbs I had in the garage into the empty bulbholders which were already installed and wired up. Cost: £0.00 :)

If this is really the case why is it a Fresnel lens instead of plain glass?

orange lenses and it looks well tough[/QUOTE]

de-tangoing is so 90's. I have no idea why its the first thing people change on their cars. It always looks crap, or in some cases when there's an OEM clear lense replacement it can look "ok".

The clear indicators aren't really clear though are they, they are frosted and don't match the headlight lense at all, the orange ones look better. Can't tell the difference with the projector lense though.

Clear sides look fine, but frosted ones just look stupid, looks better with the tango ones installed.

Free mod wise:

Smoothed my airbox, removed one of the mesh filters on the MAF, removed the EGR system (not quite a free mod), tweaked the wastegate slightly, relocated the R-DV.

I now want to reprogram my dials so the needles are always lit red even though the dash lights aren't on.

i might do that. i think my chav little brother might have some orange bulbs laying around after he "de-tangod" his clio/saxo blah blah blah

then its time for proper mods again, milltek going on soon and then the proper wheels

Free mods: added interior switch to the interior light, rather than it only coming on with the doors open. Also moved cigarette lighter socket to the glovebox.

I wouldn't put the needles always lit though unless you can't properly see them in daylight, you might not notice when your lights aren't on :p
