I'd have thought OcUK would be pretty easy to monitor as they show prices ex. vat so very difficult to actually raise that price without people noticing. Other shops though...

Surely everywhere else is just as easy to monitor as long as you know what the +2.5% price looks like?

you can clearly see vat calculations on most things.
they also have vat reciepts.

The VAT cut was to stimulate spending. It helped the retailers stay afloat and helped the consumers spend more to help keep the economy afloat. Yes, prices will go back up.
People forget that the price of things go up all the time. Its not a once a year thing
I think you missed the point, obviously retailers wont add on a few extra quid of VAT, but many will take the oppertunity to add a few quid to the price of the goods, whilst putting the VAT rate back to 17.5%.
From my personal viewpoint we shant be raising the prices, and will adsorb the 2.5% VAT hike from our own pockets
But can you be bothered to get your calculator out?

They never did reduce it, the best time to buy was when the vat drop came out then later on everthing went back up to .99

Some prices will go down. January sales.
Most prices can't go up by exactly 2.5% - or 2.17%. Try 49p.
