God of war collection is an excelent example of how to do trophies well. Just completed it once on a through play through and have 75% of the trophies. The extra ones are doable and look really fun.

Wipeout HD I've completed 7/8 of the series, played a fair bit on line and have a measly 9% of the trophies! What the heck is that about?

What games do you think have done achievements well and what haven't? In my opinion you should be able to get most on a first play through, I'm fed up of completing a game and it tells me I only have 40% of the trophies or whatever it's not right! It's not like the game has 60% more content to offer.

Goldfingers!! it's you that added me on PSN! Sorry, I thought it was someone I played in a game with online and never bothered accepting. I'll accept it tonight :D

Good examples? I think Uncharted is good, as is Modern Warfare 2. Will need to look through my list later when I get home!

Terrible ones? Well Resistance 2 comes to mind! I need 2 more trophies, one is easy and the second? It's something like get 10k online kills (only counts deathmatch games). Its just heinous to try it! 25 kill limit and games last like 10mins each. Not to mention its rubbish on deathmatch!

Just though I'd throw that one in, still irks me that I was robbed of my first platinum :p

Bioware do the worst achievements. Having achievements force you to make particular decisons in a freeform rpg is wrong.

COD2, MW and MW2 all have great achievements as does Assassins Creed II, Bully, Crackdown and Borderlands. Straightforward story ones and then fun single player side challenges. Also any achievement that requires you to play a particular way in ranked play shouldn't be there.

Pretty much my thoughts and the games I would have mentioned :)

orange box doesn't have trophies dose it ?

Has achievements on the 360.

Must admit I dislike games that have online MP only achievements, you shouldn't be punished if MP isn't your thing. Also it doesn't help when the game is old and the patching of exploits has long been abandoned or ones like beating a developer in a ranked match is highly unlikely.

Out of the games I have MW2 has it absolutely right there are separate in game achievements for MP in the form of titles and callsigns etc. Forza 3 is doable, GTA EFLC not so good, worst seems to be Halo ODST.

Must admit I do find it a bit of a barrier to picking up Gears Of War, but the campaign and coop should be worth it.

I don't even notice when I earn a trophy to be honest, nor have I ever gone to the lengths to get them all in a game. It strikes me as odd the amount of kids I teach who will play absolute rot to improve their gamerscore.

(EDIT: DJ Hero and MW2 have sensible approaches to trophies that I've noticed however.)
