rage against the x-factor - Outcome: RATM is the Christmas Number One!

Okay, i did make a promise earlier that if we won i would ask somebody:

-snip-

out. But she's annoyed with me that i backed a song with swearing in so perhaps now isn't the best time...

can someone tell me if simon cowell actually still makes money? I heard that its not his record label but 2 different labels both signed up to sony so people at sony will make money but not simon? is this true?

I think its a disgrace that the British Public (or a portion of it) should lend their support to a foreign band just to take a swipe at Simon Cowell and British Pop music in general. I wonder if the American public would do the same for us when their American Idol is picked next year? The Americans are very Patriotic, and I respect them for that - the same can’t be said for our own.

So Nick Griffin is a Joe fan, didn't see that coming.

So glad rage won.

Correct, Simon only gets anything to do with x-factor winners.

Normal music = 0
Dark room cutting yourself music = 1

I'd rather be a bleeding WINRAR than a soppy pre-pubescent LOSERRRRR!!!

OcUK meet @ Rage gig? :D

Hells yeah - sign me up :D

HAHA!! :D

Anyway, taking nothing away from the victory but how many would RATM have sold if people were only allowed 1 download each?

I imagine the decrease in sales for both songs would be similar if the same applied to Joe's song ;)

His opinion is extremely cocky and arrogant, especially the quote about "Not even getting to boot camp" When you make such opinions public, you're bound to get hated by some people.

I have to say, I'm rather happy at the result :) If only because this is the first #1 in the charts that I have 1) ever contributed to and 2) really liked as a song (and yes, I did buy Jeff Buckley's Hallelujah last year - I'm a fan of his too!).

I have nothing against Joe at all - he seems like a nice lad, plus if I slagged him off, I would be a dead man living up this way :D but I remember listening to RATM for the first time in the early 90s and being blown away - so they will always mean something special to me - and the fact that their music was used to stick a middle finger up at the generic rubbish that we are subjected to these days is more of a bonus.

As for those calling anyone who bought the RATM single a sheep, please - get a grip. Your insults are so flawed it's barely worth commenting on. The sheep are those who buy the same regurgitated crap, year after year, week after week and fall hook, line and sinker for the latest manufactured puppet to dance out of Simon Cowell's pocket.

Also, this made me chuckle:

The Independent said:
X-Factor winner McElderry was less than a year old when Rage Against the Machine stormed onto the LA rock scene in 1992 with their self-titled debut album which went triple platinum and effectively gave birth to the nu-metal rock scene...

:D:D

The X Factor's stranglehold on the Christmas singles charts was dealt a devastating blow tonight as show winner Joe McElderry's bid for the No1 spot was sensationally hijacked by an internet campaign.

So apparently the Mail seem to think that the No.1 was McElderry's by right and has been stolen by nefarious means, well that's the way I read the use of 'hijacked'

Annoyingly I had to go out, so I missed the big moment!

It was sad to hear that Joe lost out. I imagine a Christmas No.1 would have been the best present ever!

It'll be interesting to see if similar groups pop-up next year, maybe even headed by RATM.

It's also interesting how the rise of social networking has made these sorts of things possible!

Don't get me wrong, I like RATM and love the song, and I'd never buy Joe's single for myself, but you're still all sheep, and the other herd are the ones sticking their middle finger up at you now as well.

Also, the 'greater good'? Sure you're a RATM fan!? Don't go all utilitarian on us!

Sheep follow blindly without question.

Most people who bought McElderberry's single would fit in this this category.

People who bought RATM had a choice to buy it, they were asked to.

However, I suspect this will go right over your head.
