A lot of comments i've seen seem to be under the impression RATM are a new band as well, completely oblivious to the several multi platinum albums, sell out shows, headlined festivals, political movements and so on.
It just goes to show just how out-of-touch scores of people are I guess. I did wince a little whilst reading some of the responses on that fan-based forum. Complete idiocy if you ask me.
Anyone spot this gem?
[I'm paraphrasing] "I agree with you hun. I won't allow my kids to listen to that type of mysic either."
As in refering to the rock-genre due to it happening to have 'swearing'.
These people are saying they've lost faith in society? Today is a proud moment - sure it's a bandwagon - but a part of my faith has been returned to me with a smile. I guess these people are simply the polar-opposite of the individual of which many of us here, are and stand for. But then, what do you expect from a spoon-fed, Heat-reading, little princess who's too stupid to see how the X-Factor plays on the hero-forumula and simple sales? It's perfectly evident in the fact that the backlash stems from Joe's hurt feelings and 'damaged' career.
It's not about the music with the fans of the show, it's about the story and the happy-ending. It's sadly ironic that because they're buying into this force-fed, neatly packaged, heart-string story of the musical protagonist as they want to see and share in a happy ending, that they are unwittingly supporting a framework - the 'machine' - which is the very reason why many happy endings are no longer possible.
Most of them are children and they don't know any better. The few that got upset and vocal about being labelled a child because they're 21 or 22 have probably just not really grown-up, or are still hanging on to a naive world-view that makes them susceptible to such exploitation.
Oh well, I knew the enemy was close but no-one ever said anything about fighting women and children.
