As title, I'm in the market for a laptop which has a good battery life (longer the better) and good media playback. This is mainly for General PC use (web, word, excel and the odd app), and for Holiday entertainment (movies - tv programs)

Looking for something not too big, but with good enough graphics to play HQ media, so it needs a nice screen too.

Currently I'm looking at the Acer Timeline 3810TZ SU4100 CPU CineCrystal™ 13.3 LED LCD (1366x768) screen 3/4GB Mem, and an integrated GMA 4500MHD. Its also supposed to run for about 8 hours.

Anyone got any opinions on this machine? or could recommend something better?

Budget is around 500 but is flexible for the right machine.

Oops I put Asus...corrected.

Thanks for the response... I've read a few things about acer build quality so yes that makes me a little nervous. I'll have a look at the Dell, but on first glance of the pics I like the look of it :)

Come to this of it there are some reservations about the Dell which might be a deal breaker for you - I'm not sure that the battery is user replaceable :-(

You might want to double check for yourself. Some random threads below:

Thanks for the info Mark, I think the battery only lasts about 4-5 hours too, plus there are many negative comments about the machine.

At present I still stuggling to beat the Acer 3810.
