Best Budget Gaming Graphics Card

True I would personaly go with the 5770 and crosfire as A) you get much better crossfire scaling B) Direct X11 and C) Eyefinity

They are pretty much equal, it just depends whether you want upgradability or performance

A. 4890's scale just as good if not better.

B. DirectX11 is not that important at this moment in time.

C. 5770's don't have the power for Eyefinity with modern games so that's mute point :)

Modern Warfare 2 sucks dude, come play some Modern Warfare...anyways on topic.

As many have suggested if it was me I would buy a 5770 at that budget, BUT if you can possibly save a little more money. Get what I got a 5850 yeah its a bit more, but think your saving money in the long term over the next few years right? I play both of the Call of duty games, at a really high end level mate and yeah I understand high fps is needed to do all those strage jumps or what not. I also play at your resoloution, so after giving some considerate thought, 5850 mate.

If you think its just silly to spent £240 on a card, then 5770. Either way you need a good system to get the best out of your card, which unfortunately I found out later on after buying my own card.

the 4890 is older tech and will probably show it's age much quicker than the DX 11 5770

I doubt this. Not for a long time yet anyway. Are games developers really going to be investing heavily into DX11 for a very niche PC gaming market? Sadly, I think not.

Until DX11 does come maintream, I think your best off with a cheaper 4870/90. By the time developers catchup there will be a whole new breed of cards for everyone to get excited about.

Hi, first post! Abby Titmuss and a hippy brew beer to you all.

I recently faced the same choice, 4870/90 or 5770 and decided for the 5770. I don't miss the few extra fps the 4890 would give in some games and I also feel the 5770 is a safer long-term buy - I have a crossfire mobo so I can add another at any time if I feel I need the performance boost (a pair of 5770's should handle games - even using DX11 - for quite some time) and DX11 support and a more efficient tech are nice bonuses too.

I suppose the bottom line is you pays yer money and makes yer choice. I'm sure you'll be happy whichever card you buy, there are no really bad choices there. Just pick one and enjoy it.
