Hey guys!

looking to get a 3rd GTX260 for my system, but unsure if my Power supply

my spec is:

Q6600
8GB DDR2 ram
Evga 680i
2 x GTX 260 (192 shader versions)
1 x 750 Samsung Spinpoint
2 x 160gb Maxtors
DVD/RW Drive
4 x 120mm fans
2 x 140mm Fans

all this is powered by a Corsair TX750W power supply.

now ive done the caculation on the antec site, and it comes to around 670W

another thing ive noticed is, i do not have the facility on the psu to have 3 PCi-exepress power cables, so i guess it must be time for an upgrade if i do this.

due to my case being a Fractal Design case, the newer Corsair PSUs will overhang the mounts in the case, and the air hole for the fan. so it will be the older tech model, which is still spot on.

what sort of power would you guys think? ive seen a 950W Corsair on the website, so should be ample i think?

Cheers

are you running the 2 gpus at x16 atm, and if you add a third gpu can your motherboard run all three gpus at x16 speed ie PCIexpress slots that is.

yer the 2 cards at the mo are in x16 mode.

and ive got 3 pci-exepress slots on the motherboard, i think the 3rd card would run in x8?

cheers

I ran 3 on a TX850 no problem, the Corsairs are awesome power supplies you should be fine. Doubt there is much you can run that will max out all three cards.

yer must say, the corsairs are a fantastic power supply,

yer i think i would be to, ill look into gettin a 900w + Corsair and sourcing another card

cheers guys :)

Would'nt bother

680i does 2 slots at x16 and the other at x8 but it's first gen PCIEX

So in reality it's PCIEX ver 2.0 at x8 for 2 cards and x4 the third card.

x4 will kill the 3rd cards performance.

Hi Pishy

if you run GPUz 3 times, so you would have 3 instances of that program open you can selected all three seperate gpu's and see what there running at ie x16 or x8 etc.

ps Just read almightys post bad luck Pishy.
