Hey guys, currently considering buying myself out of my current Vodafone contract as quite frankly it is rubbish.

I gather that I have to pay off the remaining months left (5 months) to do so, but I've heard about people downgrading their contract to the lowest tariff before doing so, to decrease the total cost of buying out?

Any information on this would be much appreciated :) Thanks!

You can downgrade to the lowest tariff but im not sure if they will let you buy out your contract with you doing that...probably best to ring them up and ask them.

Normally contracts only let you downgrade after a certain amount of months, but if you are allowed to downgrade then I think you should be able to buy out the remaining contract.

My contract doesn't end till around June but I'm able to upgrade on-line in April. Does that make any difference?

I hope people reading this are put off signing up to a vodafone contract

I think you will be lucky to get the contract reduced before you buy out but you might as well try

iirc The last time i bought out my Vodafone contract, they would only let me downgrade after X number of months after you have taken the contract out. Also they would only let me downgrade in steps. i.e 35 P/M to 30P/M

Whats your reasons for leaving? :D

I'm with Voda myself and i have not been very impressed with some aspects of there service over the past 8 months. So i have been thinking about trailing a Orange PAYG sim to see what its like for coverage and service.

Basically I was silly and went into a crap contract :p. £25 for 150 minutes, around 300-400 texts (can't remember!) and a Samsung Omnia for £50.

Going to sell the Omnia and buy out of the contract and switch to O2 for £35, 400 minutes, 1000 texts, free BlackBerry 8520 and unlimited data.

I also get my broadband with O2, so that'll knock £6 off the monthly cost of that so works out pretty good.

that new o2 contract sounds nearly as bad as your original one which im not even sure how you managed (my omnia vodafone one was way better and phone was free :/)

if you want the 8520 then look here for way better options which are cheaper than what you just mentioned at http://www.mobiles.co.uk/blackberry-8520-curve.html

Looking at T-Mobile now. £35 for:

Free BlackBerry 8900
700 Minutes
Unlimited Texts
Unlimited Internet
Blackberry email/IM (compulsary £5)

Seems better?

Why not just order another contract on the Vodafone website. They seem to have some of the best deals at the moment. Plus if you order via quidco you will get £90 cash back which might pay off your line rental on your old phone.

Blackberry Curve 8520
24 Month contract
600 Mins , Unltd texts
+ BlackBerry email+ 500MB of mobile internet and webmail
£30 per month.

Ok this is getting silly now.

I've now left Vodafone due to the fact I kept getting ignored by customer services and on the occasions I did get a response they never did what they said they were going to, meaning I had to keep chasing everything up (again and again from the beginning).

Somehow Vodafone staff are more willing to help customers on a forum which isn't even their own than they are a customer using their online form that the above links to.

Sorry but my advice is leave Vodafone if you can as their CS has gone down the pan in the last year (I had been with vodafone for over 10 years) and I can only see it getting worse.

I've been with Vodafone for the last -6-7 years and I think their signal strength and service is excellent. Never had any issues. However I think you can get a better deal with 02 on most occasions.

thinking of changin networks to after vodafone falsly charged me for months and kept telling me it wouldnt happen again but did.and still have got refund! shame as i've been with them for 15 yrs think thats when i got the brick :D

Vodafone, your crib sheet responses are getting tiresome, do customer services not know how to speak for themselves? Or resolve any customer issues come to think of it
