Google Avoids £450 Million UK Tax

Dangerstat - I've just spent 3 years studying tax and will hopefully soon find out that I've passed the second hardest professional qualification in the uk. To keep that qualification I need to do a huge amount of cpd as the tax system constantly changes. I can tell you that the uk tax system is incredibly complex.

What's classed as the most difficult then? I thought it was the CTA's? Is it the CFA? Good luck man. I get my awareness result on 25th January.

If they're doing it legally then good on them. You'd be absolutely bloody mad to pay tax while knowing you don't have to. Absolutely stark raving bonkers.

Hardest is some actuarial thing, so not only is it really hard it's also really boring!

Is that the results day? Wasn't sure of the date. Remember they publish them online about 9 the evening before.

All the actuaries I know are absolute geniuses. I thought however that the industry was dying out due to the decline of defined benefit pensions?

Makes me laugh though when people start ranking their qualification's difficulty.

Second hardest by who's standard?
Second hardest according to what research?

No idea, to be honest, just quoting what I've been told. I'd imagine it's by pass rate. The CTA pass rate hovers around 30%, and that's for an open book exam with a pass mark of 50%.

No offence to you, I know you're only relaying what you've heard, but pass rate means nothing. If I get a load of three year olds to take a GCSE maths exam, by pass rate that would make it the hardest exam in history.

Maybe it's just that the people taking the CTA exams aren't actually that clever, just highly resilient to boring subject matter, and all the really clever people became doctors and scientists ;).

Come here and say that and I'll beat you to death with my 20,000 pages of legislation.

No it doesn't. The elderly should receive the best that we can provide. The disabled as well, provided that they are disabled of course. There are a lot of actors out there who should be bloody well working, instead of leeching off me.

The Government have a lot to answer for as well. The way they sqander the cash they have should see them lined up against a wall and shot.

Wow, we have a Victor Meldrew in the building. Enjoy your Daily Mail this morning?

'Lined up against a wall and shot'? Wow - there are still actually people in the world that really think like this .. and honestly believe that people starving to death won't turn to crime rather then just die nice and quietly!
