**** GTX 285 Arrived ****

Rroff may love nvidia but he had 8800GTs in SLI, and now 260s in SLI. Pretty cost effective purchasing in my opinion.

that's a kick in the ******, was hoping to snag a last minute bargain for delivery before xmas, was itching to buy a card too.

Nvidia fanboy here! *dives for cover* :D

Got the 8800GT SLI when the 280GTX came out... was half the price for around 10% better performance aslong as you weren't hitting the VRAM limits... and then got a pair of 260GTX for just under £300 - which was a LOT cheaper than the 295GTX at the time.

To be fair tho... when one of them failed recently... I spent £300 on a couple of gigabyte super overclocked - well worth every penny until DX11 comes along tho they are massively overclocked*... and I'll prolly buy a couple of the high end fermi cards when released unless they are significantly slower than the ATI equivalent.

Theres no way I'd spend the money for the 285GTX for the small performance gain over my 260GTX cards...

Ouch, that's well pricey!!!

I'm kicking myself for not grabbing one of the GTX280's that was in the Clearance Lines section the other day for £149, I stupidly went and bought 2 x Kingston 40GB SSD's, and I was going to wait until this week to get the GTX280, I really should have done it the other way about... :(

I hope that I can find another 280 elsewhere for the same price, as I really want to try these cards in SLi..

I would sell your GTX285 and then get 2x5770 instead. :)

Whats your monthly rates on sig rental and do i have to provide a security deposit?

I can't think of any good reason... unless you needed CUDA + 1024MB VRAM but I can't think of any situation where that would happen either.

you have read all these smashing reviews of how the 128bit bus does not cripple them and that its max fps that counts not min and that they scale uber in some games and they bench fansatic......
and deep down you really belive it all dont you? :(

5770 Crossfire beats 5870, 295 in all but two tests on the Guru3D review.

P.S

I've had a 5870, the 5770 crossfire setup pulls ahead in almost all situations, I agree a single 5770 makes no sense but two makes the best sense out of the lot at the moment.
