Had an interesting start to the morning today. I got up nice and early as I was having a bed delivered. A friend of mine is currently staying with me and he parked his car opposite our next door neighbours house so the delivery van could park directly outside my house.

The van turned up and the delivery men started to put the bed together etc, during this time I was defrosting my car outside/chatting to the lady next door when one of the people further down the road decided to make the biggest fuss ever. She was driving a little Corsa and decided the gap in-between the van and my friends car was too small.

She started to kick off at him f'ing and blinding telling him to move his car back. He tried to explain that the gap was huge and that everyone else that had been/gone had no issue getting through including a huge Mercedes estate. He said he would guide her through if she was worried about hitting something but apparently this wasn't good enough. I am guessing her husband/boyfriend in the passenger seat had enough and got out the car (this is when I thought it was going to get ugly), instead he just asked nicely for him to move his car back slightly, which he did.

She then pulled up next to him screaming at him that he has parked his car too close to the corner and that people speeding round the corner will crash into him etc etc (he was parked 3-4 car lengths from the corner and on the opposite side of the road , that and the road is a cul-de-sac and ends just around the corner). Once she finished her little rant she then went off wheels spinning on the icy road

I have included a badly drawn picture of the scene :p

I really don't understand how people like this manage to drive day in day out without knowing the size of their car :( I still have no idea why all of a sudden she just started screaming at him, she didn't even attempt to talk to my friend nicely. I always thought they were fine, always nice and polite every time I saw them :(

Do her house over? Nuke her from orbit? Kick her in the ovaries?

Really 'grinds my gears' when people go off on one for no reason what so ever. It happened, forget about it, karma will have its way...

I thought the bloke was going to slap his misses and start to drive instead, but no one wants to drive a Corsa it seems.

I have been more like this since getting my V70 (given the nickname 'Bismark' by my housemate) which is as manoeuvrable as well, the Bismark. On a normal sized road, a 3 point turn is impossible and 5 point is optimistic. I could get my old S40 through the tightest of gaps but even vans seems to have a better turning circle then the V70. That said, I'd ask politely if I couldn't get through rather than ranting.

Had one like that when I worked for Silentnight.

Becasue she was just like the owman described in the OP, we just left the lorry and went for a burger :D

Always makes me laugh when people swerve right into the other lane just to avoid a cyclist hugging the pavement, or wait for the oncoming car in a street with parked cars when you could easily get a tank through the gap.

Some people just don't know how much space their car takes up on the road.

I was told in my lessons to give a cyclist the same room as I would when passing a car as they may wobble or even fall off, I always leave them loads of room. Nothing to do with spatial awareness.
