Petrol stations, open on Xmas day?

Sort of related... people really don't think they can pull the hose round to the other side of the car do they? so, so many people will queue when there is a free space just to not have to reach around (ha) to the other side. The mind boggles.

I don't want to drag that dirty great hose across my car thanks very much. If you are happy to do so, then why would the other people be a problem?

+1

i aint scratching my car for the sake of a quick fillup. i would rather wait.

I only fill my car up when its virtually empty, and need to to drive about 200 miles tommorrow.
I have about 50 or so miles left in the tank, and dont want to drive my car tonight, had a glass of wine, and dont like driving after any drinks at all.

So, should i go fill up tonight, or will I be ok to fill up on the motorway on my journey tommorrow?

Cheeers :D

Using a little lateral thinking, there are a few BP places open :)

I tried this after seeing it posted here before.. IT DIDN'T REACH .

I now reverse in if there's none free on the right side

Do you only have one arm or something?

Even with an e46 touring I can manage to fill up from the other side without the hose touching the car. I shouldn't complain though I guess, it's people like you who leave pumps empty for me. :D

Are you suggesting standing there holding the pipe up off he car while pumping? LOL.

Ummm yes, drive forward far enough and it's easy to avoid any contact of hose to car with the use of two arms. Even an old man like me can manage with an estate car. LOL!!!!1111.

I'd suggest giving it a try the next time, but don't tell too many people about it in the fear that common sense becomes too widespread and I have to queue longer.

there are a few stations that have really short hoses, remember laughing at everyone for queing and pulling into one on the opposite side, only to get out and try and pull the hose across......not happening, i felt like a n00b :( most are fine though

It is pretty easy to use the hose the opposite side to which you cap is, as mention just pull forward a little more you usualy would to avoid dragging it over your roof / boot and just hold the hose off your bumper as to not possibly scratch the paint.

It is very rare i do use the opposite side, its only when i really really need petrol and its really busy that i will do this.

I usualy fill up at a shell station when i finish work, as i work abit of an odd shift 6am to 2pm or 2pm to 10pm the station is mostly never busy or at asda after shopping depending on how busy it is.

I have somewhat felt i have jumped the que on times when im in a rush mainly due to the fact people are not queing properly or not bothering to driver around a car to get to the free pump.

Merry Christmas :D

One was opened in Wigan, its run by Asians they never shut :D Tesco had 2 pumps open that you could use with your Credit card.
