ATI HD 5870 DX11 tesselation not working

i downloaded the benchmark demo of Uniengine heaven dx11. yet activating tessalation doesnt make a difference. on another post where they're posting all their benchmark results, i asked them about my problem. the guy said i should get my card RMA'd as he heard someone else had the same problem. DISASTER for my new card today :( dx11 capable, and not even rendering it.. wow!! you've got it completely wrong AMD... BAD!!!! anyone else have this problem, or know of any fixes? i just got this card today and really not looking forward to a few months wait for a new one.. disappointed, heavily
 
Not that I find it strange that you registered 3 days ago, have 37 posts all in ATi threads and most complaining about them.

But you've got a dodgey dvi cable or monitor and had problems before and when you have further problems blamed it all on AMD's dodgey drivers, despite of course having problems before.

THe most likely being you have the wrong dvi cable, they aren't all the same, not even close.

Likewise you haven't posted anything like, I dunno, spec's, computer, OS you're using. Did you update Direct X? Who knows you haven't said.

As for understanding your huge dissappointment, no not really, its a benchmark, does the card work in all games, have you asked for proper help disagnosing the problem, by first and foremost telling us your EXACT setup, OS, driver, direct X version, DXdiag results maybe.
 
ouch, ok mate yea im not the 'norm' i'll admit im a very strange person lol. basically, if the nvidia card did it and the ati didnt, there's not that much to do with the rest of the components is there? my brothers dvi cable didnt even work on my set-up.
And all the complaining, hell yea im impressed with the card, but dont we all always expect slightly higher then we get? i know my pc is s*it, but you always have that hope it will surprise you.
And it does have something to do with drivers. some people have had problems with drivers completely screwing around with their card and turning them into standard vga adapters, and after all the ati driver problems i've read about, megatons of them, its pretty logical to think that way.
But yea i guess i have been a bit quiet about all those specs, so my bad there, sorry.
I dont have that much cash, so this hd5870 was like the only upgrade i'll get within the next year and a half or 2, so ofcourse im going to feel a little down if there's a major problem, although i'll try get rid of this negativity. reason for that negativity, you'll understand now..

Yea i've sent messages to xfx, and amd, no replies at all.. googled it and literally got NOTHING, so was hoping someone could help me here.. i really REALLY cant afford a new monitor at moment.. just in the end comes down to is the nvidia runs it, the ati doesnt. ati newer card, so has got to be driver issue.
updated dx, aug 2009, even the dev version and reinstall aug 09 over again.
only got this screen cause my brother thought it was broke, so i found that 'fix' on the geforce and everything was brilliant till now

im just looking for help mate, before my normal computer talks and stuff were with my brothers, and mates, never really forums, cause i've never had a major problem. obviously with my new ati card, thats where im gonna be trying to find the info about stuff, read about what people are experiencing with their products etc.. and like i've said in other posts, im a real fan of graphics of games, so having to use the vga analogue port is a huge blow.. i wish you could understand that..
i know i have a great card, and my system is holding it back, but i know there problems too, just like everyone else

Yes, firstly, get the SUPPORTED version of windows 7, Nvidia don't support the RC with new drivers, neither do ATi.

Secondly, trying your brothers dvi cable doesn't mean, really anything, they aren't all the same, you also mentioned problems with dvi when using your Nvidia card, which is why I said blaming it on drivers is very silly, because the problem was partially pre-existing before.

I'd advise several things, buying a new dvi-i cable if you don't have a dvi-i dual link cable http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Digital_Visual_Interface , look at the cable, both ends, check which version it matches.

Secondly, get Windows 7, the full version, as for drivers, AMD have driver issues, Nvidia have them, Intel have them, such is life, the massive majority of people don't have issues and don't post they are fine. The posts of people with problems, are still actually quite rare and a LOT of them are user error even if they claim its not.

Its incredibly unlikely, read almost impossible, that the tesselation unit is not working within the card but everything else is.
 
for the tesselation not to be working its down to the os or bad install of drivers. there is nothing wrong with the card. as said above Windows 7, the full version or even vista + dx11 then everything should be fine
 
get another monitor and test that for your dvi "problem" you are having and as i said to you this morning get the final build of windows 7!!

Enjoy your card and stop complaining. You say you have a **** computer yet its much better than most so dont complain about that either.

Oh yeah and merry christmas again
 
ok, thx a lot for that. like i said before, i had just got the card that morning, and obviously i wanted to see all the 'bells and whistles'.
But ok, i guess the MASSIVE performance difference will help me last for the next few months till i can do some upgrades. truly i am a neg person, so pretend to kick me hard in the head if i ticked you off
 
hi all, just have to come back and say this.. reason i havent been on for awhile is upgraded my OS to win 7 7600 (typical my wireless network adapter didnt work).
now everything runs perfectly, dx11 is amazing but a killer. So all it came down to was Microsoft shipping early win7 with 'dx10 with a dx11 sticker on it). I did install drivers that came with vid card, and upgrade to 9.12 from there, hotfix after, not sure if that made a difference.. now may this thread be closed? i dont like it someone found out what i really was :P
 
had the same issue with windows 7 RC, retail version works a treat, even sorted out my driver issue for creative gameport lol! enjoy your new card man, got 1 for the father in law to replace his 8800gtx, hes fapping stoked with it :)

oh i am :) believe me on that one. normally i was the jealous ones, seeing most cpu's and all oc to over 4ghz etc.. now though mwuhahaha my brothers are the jealous one.
have to say thanks again to fatboy for my xmas present arriving so soon
