Headphones for under £60 games & music

I have Goldring DR100s and I am well pleased with them. They cost me £30 or £35, I forget which. I use them for games and a wide variety of music and they're good for all of it. Heavy metal, blues, opera, orchestral...good for everything.

For £60, you should be able to get the DR150s, which are better.

I prefer the dr100's for gaming.

The Dr150's have a fuller sound to them, and tend to push every detail of the game into your ears, because of this they seem to amplify the ambient sounds more than the 100's, which i find can hinder the positioning of footsteps, and gunshot.
Because the 100's lack some bass and are more subtle on your ears the positioning is excellent.

Music is another matter, if i plug the 100's and 150's into my headphone amp at the same time, you can hear the difference even before you put them on your head. The fuller more detailed sound from the 150's is a step above the 100's which to me sound a little flat for music, compared to the 150's.

Apart from on the odd few songs where the 150's's tend to trip themselves up by pushing to much detail and everything just becomes a mess of music.

You will be more than happy with either of the Goldrings, i just find it better to have one for music and one for games because of the difference in the sound. Especially for the little monies they cost.

What about the Razer Carachias? They're about £60, sound quality is surprisingly good on them, somewhere between the DR100s and 150, especially with a bit of run in, (closer to the DR100, but bassier) and they've got a mic.

First gaming headset I've ever found a reason to recommend :)

The DR150s do sound better though, so you are compromising for the built in mic. I actually like the ambience of the DR150 for the gaming, perhaps a little harder to position sounds as you can hear more going on, more easily, but more immersive that way!

Is quite good. Good sound quality when playing css, and very durable had mine for ages.

OMG no no no no no.....I had some for 1 day and sent them back.

If you think are good sound quality then you are either deaf or they are the only pair of phones youv'e ever had.

Goldring DR150's are what you want mate. Ive had mine for a few months now and honestly, nothing competes at its price bracket.
