I've just got a Steelseries 5L for Christmas, and my MX Revolution mouse is worse on the mat than it is without. On the mat I get occassional stuttering and jumping. What's going on with this thing?!

Thanks!

Michael.

Must be reflecting badly. I have to scratch up my old rigid mousemat because Ive worn it too smooth

But this thing is brand new and is supposed to be ideal for laser mice?

Right - without the mouse mat, the mouse is occassionally a bit iffy tracking. With the mouse mat, it's slightly worse. There is no visible dirt or dust in the sensor, and I have run the vacuum cleaner over it. If I blow hard into the sensor, it makes the mouse go nuts and it jumps all over the screen. Without so much as touching the mouse again, a simple restart brings this back to 'normality' again. So, physically blowing on the mouse causes it to go nuts, but a restart somehow fixes this. Another laser mouse works perfectly on the mat.

Does anyone know what could be going on with my MX Revolution? It doesn't seem like it could be a physical fault since a restart fixes it, but equally blowing onto the sensor causes the issue. I'm flummoxed!

Thanks for any advice.

I'm not sure which steelseries mat i have, but im sure its the same as you and at first mine was the same, when i got it @ i38 it was very juttery, got killed on CSS a couple of times 'cos of it, but now its amazing, for what i paid for it, it shouldnt need wearing in, but it did after a few days and now is even better than my old Nova mat

I have a MX mouse, one of their first good wireless ones. Very good normally but sometimes if you put a glass in front of the receiver it can get jumpy.

Not sure if you have the wireless one, maybe post up some pics of your setup that might show some incidental detail that is the cause.

Otherwise just search for someone using the same mouse with the same mat or contact the mat people even and ask them

In ye olde days I would have wondered about driver or irq conflicts. Its always worth changing options or altering setup to see if anything helps, uninstall, reinstall and so on

Otherwise is there such a thing as spray on teflon ? Mat probably needs either some wear in or some kind of coating might help

I've tried the mouse in another computer, I've moved the receiver, I've cleaned around the laser sensor, I've uninstalled and reinstalled SetPoint, all to no avail, so I think the mouse might just be faulty. I will have to contact Logitech customer services on Tuesday.

Logitech customer service is very good, try their website . If you've tried another computer I guess thats enough

I dont even bother installing the logitech drivers. It works well enough without on whatever the standard one is

I configure all the buttons to do different things. This MX Revolution is actually a replacement to my MX1000 which stopped charging. I have tried to sort it through the website but it won't let me submit a question using my email addressing saying that it is already registered, but then won't let me sign in with my email address saying it isn't valid . I think I'll probably get a much quick response by waiting to call them as I can convey straight away that I have tried everything possible to troubleshoot the device, and they might be able to organise a replacement right away.

Can anyone in this world work out how to email Logitech customer support? I fill in the form and it either tells me my email address is already registered (even though it isn't), but there is nowhere to 'login' with this supposedly registered email. When I manage to put in an email address that isn't registered, it says that my question failed to send because I didn't put in the PID or S/N (even though both boxes have been completed). I'm at my witts end trying to figure out how to do this!

Does anyone have any pearls of wisdom?

Thanks

Logitech has to have the best customer service I've ever experienced. Normal 020 number, so free to call from mobile, answer within a few rings, and after taking a few details a new replacement mouse is being shipped. Why can't other companies provide service like this?!
