Can you use the new macbook pro plugged into the wall but without a battery inside?

Yes but it will be slower:

Strange. Surely the adaptor should provide at least as much power as the machine can use? Otherwise you could have a situation where it's plugged in but the battery actually slowly discharges?

Not forgetting the the 12 or so screws to remove the bottom of the laptop.

Not exactly user removable in the traditional sense is it?
