battlefield 2 black flickering textures

Hay all just got this off steam and i getting black flickering textures in game anyone know how to fix this ?

I have a ati 4850 card cat ver 9.9

jesus i had that when i played it on a 3870 way back in the day.

Kill shadows ?? lower some textures. --- i know its silly but might help

Try new drivers im afraid thats all you can do -- go back to some 8.x series..

I remember it was terrible on some china vs USA map bloody horrid

I tested all the settings in game and its the terrain option.

If set anything other then low i get the flickering

I was just thinking i would have it on low anyways as i think it removes the grass so better for online play.

Not sure if this is right but i think the black patches are related to anti aliasing or something along those lines. I remember getting that a few years back and disabling some option which made them go away.

Might want to try uopdating your vid driver as well.

hmm man speaks the truth that does ring a bell now....

Kill AA in game and force it from CCC or play without.

This is normally caused by Catalyst AI being disabled in the CCC.

I doubt it is aa tbh. It may be something to do with ccc as has been said, but I got full settings and full aa on my old dual 8600gt system, and a 4850 blows them out of the water; even if it is programmed badly for ati, It won't be THAT much worse

If you have a weak or off brand psu, that may bf another issue, often when having to do lots of gpu work, like in games, cheap psu's can't handle it, so you get flickery or grainy textures, that may explain it

I know its definitely just BF2 game as it only happens in BF2 no other game even cod mw2 and crysis runs fine.

Turning the terrain to low fix's the problem so i guess some thing about the game that don't like my card
