I thought for ages the naughties were ninenties? It wasn't until about half way through the decade when someone referred to Amy Winehouse as "the best and worst artist of the naughties" that I realized journos somehow turned the perfect descriptive name for ninenties into awkward name for two thousands. Shame really.

I'm sure a few OAPs will get confused thinking that everyone else is talking about the 1910s, but it's a price to pay.

I doubt I'll be calling them anything. I can honestly say I've never used 'naughties' or any other retarded phrase to describe the previous ten years.

Probably something along the lines of 'the years between X and Y'. Or maybe the 'tens', or 'twenty-tens'. I form my sentences and communicate in such a way that I don't have to invent stupid words that other people don't understand to get my point across......

The problem is the whole of politics is based on a fallacy, that of argumentum ad populum. I have relatives who are and have been involved in politics, and the amount of time you spend appeasing the masses as opposed to doing the right thing is quite shocking.

teens is the sensible option, given the majority of years in the decade will include 'teen' in it.
