England -v- South Africa series **Spoilers**

Wow England ripping SA apart...excellent stuff from Broad and Swann:eek:.

Looks like England are fast becoming the side to beat now.

Looking very good, 59-6

Prince c Bell b Swann 16
Smith lbw b Swann 22
Amla b Swann 6
Kallis b Broad 3
de Villiers lbw b Broad 2
Duminy b Broad 0
Boucher not out 10
Morkel not out 0

Wow what a day! Can only think of day 2 of the Oval test against AUS last summer to rival this performance in the last few years.

Great days play! I was working outside and just switched on car radio as the 5th one went down. Excellent stuff! Graeme Swann has been a great addition to the team.

I struggle to find an Englands innings were they have got 2 tons and 3 1/2 tons. Finaly they have played and matched their potential with the bat. Feel sorry for monty as swan has basicly sealed the spinner post in the team, and all rounder i dare say.

Absolutely an all-rounder, a damn useful one too! His stats in 2009 are:

Played 12, scored 452 runs @ 45.20, 52 wickets @ 28.38

Pretty impressive really! It's a shame he won't get to bat in a second innings or he could have got 50 wickets and 500 runs in a calendar year, pretty good effort Swanny!

Indeed. I'd go as far as saying Swann is our player of the year, even above Strauss. He offers more than Broad as an all-rounder on his current form.

I'd say it would be one heck of a debate to split Swann and Strauss as our players of the year. I don't think anyone else is in the frame for this.

I just checked Swann and Broad's Test stats on Cricinfo and whilst Broad has more runs, virtue of 33 innings to Swann's 16, Swann has a better average and a better batting strike rate. That and Swann has a higher HS than Broad. I'm almost tempted to walk into a bookies in town and put a tenner or something on Swanny getting a maiden ton in 2010.

Hasn't there been talk of moving Swann up the order and Broad down?

Right you're not allowed to watch tomorrow morning in case they balls it up!

Seriously though, perfect day for England and we should have this wrapped up before lunch :D

No way I'm missing us winning the match mate, so you all know who to blame if it goes goes breasts up.;)

Re: Player of the Year, I would still say Strauss edges it, purely because out of of the absolute farce he inherited, he has, with the coach of course, managed to mould a team that appears to be focused, gets on well - when was the last time you heard about a disagreement or 'crisis' in the England camp? And on top of that, has been in superb form, leading from the front against Australia (remember how they said they were 'targeting' him, in the buildup to the series).

Swann has been part of that team and has really performed well, but I think Strauss just about edges it (no pun intended :p )

Go England! Always a pleasure to see the Saffers taking it up the Khyber. :D

In other news, we've just whipped Pakistan at the MCG. Ricky Ponting is now officially the most successful Test player in history, winning 93 of his 140 matches. (He's also the most successful captain, with 42 wins from 65 Tests).
