Sporting moments of the decade?

Has to be Scott Parker lifting the Intertoto Cup for me. He may have looked bored during the ceremony but you could tell it was one of his proudest moments.

thats exactly why I said "imo" at the end - no need to go off on one:)

I would still suggest getting to an Olympics and winning is a lot more difficult and takes a lot more dedication from the participants (and therefore should be a higher commendation) than any individual football game - where lets face it you can actually lose numerous games on route to a final (group games / one of the home/away games in the knock out rounds) - an Olympian has to be much more consistant to get anywhere near the final

It may well do.

But thats not the point is it? As I already said, this isnt a competition, its not a contest to see whose sporting moment is more valid or less valid than anyone elses. Thats essentially what I was saying. I gave my sporting moment, I see and feel no need to compare mine or justify mine against anyone elses, hence why I feel no need to denigrate anyone elses choice against my own. I'm perfectly happy to accept that everyones is different, no need to compare them.

I mean honestly, If I really have to justify my reasoning.. There was one sporting event this decade which was so significant and had such an effect on my wife and I that we conceived our daughter that night, in part because of the high we were on from the success, and it wasnt any of the ones you listed, it was the one I listed. No other sporting moment did that this decade, so for me the most significant sporting event of the decade was the one I listed. Though no idea why I should have to explain my reasoning against other peoples choices. Such a competitive nature on internet forums :)

As a football fan it's obviously watching the invincibles, nobody else will ever be good enough to repeat that :) I'm blessed to have seen it first hand

People might laugh since its not a real mainstream sport, but Barny vs Taylor, PDC World Championship when Barny beat Taylor... omg.

Colin McRae's incredible X-Games run in 2006 - I've NEVER seen anything like it in my life!

Probably not the top one but Randy Couture coming out of retirement and dominating Tim Sylvia to win the UFC heavyweight belt!

The 2005 Ashes.
Usain Bolt’s Olympic sprint gold double in 2008.
England’s Rugby World Cup win against Australia in 2003.

-2005 CL Final
-2006 Brazil vs France: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SvYlvkWpPy4
-2009 Liverpool 4-4 Arshavin (in the grand scheme of things, not a decade-defining event, but I can't think of many better more exciting sporting spectacles I've witnessed)

^Above is just football from recent years. I'm struggling to think of much else which is annoying. I KNOW I saw some truly awesome cricket from the likes of Hayden, just can't put my finger on it.

One of the most dramatic moments had to be Iniesta's last ditch goal against chelsea.

Agree, me and my friends had been frustrated by Chelsea for the whole game and then that happened and it proved that football does sometimes win.

The Invincibles season, which may not be repeated for a very long time.
The Ashes win in 2005.
Usain Bolt in general, an absolute genius.
Michael Phelps at the Olympics, another genius.
Griffin v Bonnar - Brought UFC to the masses and also my favourite fight of all time.
Liverpool comeback in CL final.
Sir Steve Redgrave at the Olympics.
Ward v Gatti and Barrera v Morales - couldn't split these two trilogies, brilliant.
Dame Kelly Holmes' double gold at the Olympics.
