Burlington; The UK's underground city

The future OCUK HQ? I think so :). Problem is...we'll need an unlimited supply of mustard...and bleach just for asim18.

It makes you wonder how good the one they have now is. :D

We'd know about it. It would be private financed, overbudget and late.:p

I do think its very cool that such place exists mind, would love to have a tour around it.

So this is where we go when Black Mesa reproduce the events seen in The Mist? I'm in!

the underground site was designed not only to accommodate the than Conservative Prime Minister, Harold MacMillan, but the entire Cabinet Office, civil servants and an army of domestic support staff.

I wonder what 4,000 civil servants would have done if their actually was a nuclear strike? Wouldn't all the pleb citizens be left for dead? And it sounds like it was just for the conservative cabinet? They would let Labour and everyone else get vapourised :D

I suppose they would come out after 3 months with waving white flags and ask for new jobs in the Soviet government

I'm not kidding. How much do they want?

£5m.

The site has a notional value of £5m but there is a catch. It is available only as part of a private finance initiative that involves investing in the military base on the surface above.

I’m sure GD will raise the cash, minimum donations of £100,000 required. Send your donations to me, so who’s going to start the ball rolling? :D

I suppose letting the Socialist Labour party into the bunker during a war with communist russia wouldn't be the best plan :p

The rest of the population, well yes they would just get left to it pretty much. A while ago there was a discussion on here about nuclear war and someone mentioned a docudrama produced in the 1980s which actually followed the series of events which would be involved in a nuclear war, in Britain, against the USSR. I cant remember what it was called but it was TERRIFYING. I couldnt actually watch to the end, it just made me feel sick. It was all too real and made me all too aware of how close we really came.
