Battlefield BC2 looking dam sweet

why do people keep saying there wont be prone in the pc version I thought it was only the consoles that dont get it .

heres quote from a dice dev little while ago

DICE feels that because the console versions of the game is at such a lower resolution (1280x720), compared to PC resolutions (as high as 2560x1600), that prone was breaking the fast paced action of the game and that it was too camper friendly. When DICE played with prone on consoles other players were nearly impossible to see while prone (until it was too late), and the matches often resulted in a camping festival between the defending team and the attacking team, complete with smores and campfire songs. The overall atmosphere felt slow, and the game wasn't at its full fast-paced potential. When DICE played the matches with the prone turned off, it forced camping players to put more thought into their hiding spots, and it gave the attackers less of a disadvantage being able to see who was shooting at them and resulted in more fast paced gameplay. People like yourself can go on and on about how in real life prone is the most important battle stance in a firefight, but obviously this isn't real life, and you should play ARMA2 or something if you really want it, or purchase the PC version .

.....

Prone- I don't consider prone a real feature to get all excited about for the PC version, but I suppose people like you have proven me wrong. Regardless, as of right now prone is not going to be on the console version and I gave the reasons above.

w00t for snipers :D

Why exactly? The above doesn't say anything about it definately being in the pc version, just the fact that prone turned the game into a campfest, if anything they may have reached the same conclusion for the pc version. Theres no link to the article either, for all we know that was done months back and their stance on prone in the pc version has also changed.

If it is included then its clear that dice hasn't leaned from past mstakes, unless they make going to prone incredibly slow.

prone i could live with, not a major problem as jumping whilke firing was patched long long ago in 2006 but the bunny hoppers are a complete pain and shows a complete lack of skill once your magazine is empty....in th old days i only used to play on servers that used to kick and ban bunny hoppers...TeamUzi being the best:)

they said it turned consoles into a cmpfest because the low res meant people could not see prone people so din;t risk it.

they're easy to see on a decent ress.

Well i seriously hope ths time prone has been fixed properly, otherwise i expect the infantry combat to get as pathetic as bf2 after a few weeks.

That being siad, i grinned at this quote:

Last but not least, the PC platform is usually expected to put up with a lot more 'crap' compared to consoles. While consoles may get the game on a certain date, PC users typically have to wait much longer for the same game, but in turn, they get the game for a lower price because there are no licensing fees like consoles have, and typically they get a few more perks thrown in compared to consoles just for good measure. PC customers are a much tougher crowd then consoles are so we have to appeal to them in as many ways as possible, but why not? They deserve it after having a steady history of constantly getting the shaft. Also on a side note, If it wasn’t for the PC platform you wouldn’t be playing the game on consoles right now.

:D

i wonder if it will be out before the beta?Is the beta open on the pc?Or do you have to order the game to get access?

Pre-ordered from Game before xmas as it was limited edition and around £25, however would prefer to get it through Steam.
No one seems to know much about the PC UK beta.

i expect the beta will not be open without payment of some sort. pc beta was delayed till after xmas afaik

is dx11 going to affect this game much, i would be surprised by that

why r people so anti prone, i never saw a major problem with dolphin divers and bunny hoppers were stopped from being able to shoot in BF2 yonks ago (tho that became annoying for anyone throwing c4).

Prone dive kills are alive and well in bf2. Falling on the floor is an excellent combat tactic but not the best gameplay

The reason it works is the hitbox is altered instantly not gradually. To some extent it applies to crouch also, not sure if they fixed it in css but in cs it was noted as an easy dodge. Prone is the more extreme because the players profile is altered so much
