Burlington; The UK's underground city

I've always had a "fantasy" of owning a nuclear bunker and running a data centre from it like "the bunker", I know its hugely geeky but its one of those secret fantasy things :D

This one was put up for sale 4 years ago for approx £5m, bargain!

Now I want to go and find one to do some pics, wonder if there is any in sussex.

This is cool, I love underground stuff, must be something to do with geeks and sunlight.

It is impressive and indeed makes you wonder what they have now.

All this effort for the LAbour party though, i don't like the idea of it being for the government, it should be like that movie where they pick people at random or top scientsts or something.

Why would you want jacqui smith, when you could have a super model or a scientist.

With the tunneling worm train things they have now they are probibly under the Irish sea, English channel or north sea. Not that many of us would ever get to use them if the need ever arised.

Speak for yourself. They'd come get me :D

It does seem very much like a Vault from Fallout. Would be very interesting to go look around.

That should be bought and turned into an airsoft/paintball all out war zone :D

Games could go on for days!

I didn't ever realise that Lamson tubes actually existed! What an amazing piece of technology for that time! :O Hopefully they use some kinda of computer network in their current bunker :D

Then you would be surprised at how commonly they are used today. Both the recent hospital projects I have worked on have installed Lamson Tubes.

Many large shops/supermarkets use them to move cash away from the tills.

I suppose letting the Socialist Labour party into the bunker during a war with communist russia wouldn't be the best plan :p

The rest of the population, well yes they would just get left to it pretty much. A while ago there was a discussion on here about nuclear war and someone mentioned a docudrama produced in the 1980s which actually followed the series of events which would be involved in a nuclear war, in Britain, against the USSR. I cant remember what it was called but it was TERRIFYING. I couldnt actually watch to the end, it just made me feel sick. It was all too real and made me all too aware of how close we really came.

It's called "Threads" and it's the most depressing film I've ever seen.
