How do you buy a gift on steam to send later ???

Do i do this by sending the gift to myself first ??

fairly sure you just buy it as a gift, but dont send it...

Doesn't seem to mention it on there, which I would expect it to if you could.

I'm guessing you want to send something thats part of the sale but the gift isnt needed for a few weeks?

send it to an email address instead of an account.... then email them the link when you want to.... might work

I read something somewhere on the steam forums about where you send it to an e-mail address that you control and then if you don't accept the gift then you can send it to someone else..

In that case I don't even understand why you need to do it with a gift at all, nevermind delay it, why can't you just buy the games with the new account and then give her the account whenever? :confused:

Because a lot of the games won't play till i upgraded the GPU or the whole system (it an old shuttle SN41G2 with onboard GPU GeForce4 MX)

I wanted to do this in order to send the xmas gifts on xmas eve rather than well in advance when I was sorting out what to get people.

What I did is create a second Steam account for myself and send the 2 gifts to that account but did nothing to activated the gifts. Then, on xmas eve go into your Steam client, Games, Manage gifts & guest passes and re-send them to the real recipient for the gift.

You don't get a second chance to set the gift text, so write in the correct messages when you buy the gift originally.

Voila.

So just install the ones that will work and say 'the others won't work until it gets upgraded a bit' and then install them later once it is upgraded.

You can even hide the list of uninstalled games so they're not visible if you're worried she might be confused.
