Well i lasted 8 years but today i finally made a stupid mistake and reversed into a 130i in a petrol station, forgot the stupid impreza i am driving has a toe bar and got a bit too close. it made a tiny scrape under the front bumper which u cant see unless u look from underneath, the guy was going to drive away but i thought it was best to give him my insurance details, or in this case the girls car i was driving (am in Australia and covered on her 3rd party insurance) so now i have to pay an excess if he claims :( which i was going to spend on a flight to Vietnam booo!! :(

i gave him our insurance details, is this all i have to do?

happy new year!!

You post in the General Discussion section of a UK-focussed computer enthusiast forum, asking whether you have correctly followed procedure following a road traffic accident in Australia.

You have amazing faith in OcUK :p

My first prang resulted in a write off :)

What happened?

I had my first one on Monday(after over a year of trouble free driving), reversed out of a parking bay with speed for a quick exit but instead went straight into the weirdly placed pillar behind. CD player flew out the dash due to the impact but there's just a miniscule scuff on the bumper. :D

Everyone stopped to have a right good look.

Not sure about Aus but in the UK, you have to report all vehicle accidents that result in damage to other ppl's property to the police within 24 hours (be that private property or public e.g. council etc)... That means things like pillers, railings, fences, kerbs, other vehicles etc etc....

Tis an offence if you dont... Just for ppl's info :)

I wasn't even driving for my first prang... car was parked up and neighbour decided to take out mine and three other cars.. oh well...

No it isn't, not if it was only car on car and no-one was injured.
