Hi,
I have an i7 920 watercooled with

black ice gtx 360 rad
d5 vario pump @ 4 speed
Watercool Heatkiller (HK) 3.0

My idle temps are 29 degrees when first turn on. But quickly rise to about 33 28 33 28.

Load temps are 38 when first turn on but after the pc is on for a few minutes it is about 40-42.

What do you think of those temps.
Remember these are the best watercooling components money can buy.

EDIT:
overclocked 3.8ghz 1.35v, idle is 37 (has been on a while) load is 59

Please ignore this next bit if you don't know, dont let this bit put you off replying!!
ps. I think my pump may have got louder but may be imagining things?

pps. I had some colour change in the liquid, got darker not lighter, probably something like chemicals in the rad. Emptied and replaced with distilled. Still bits of debris (dye probs) clustered in the top of res. Really small. Would little dye specs cause damage to the pump?

temps look ok to me, however i dont think your statements of

is spot on:P

leave it run for a while then, test it out underload with ibt and run some games along the way

mine is 4.2 - idle 36,32,36,32 - load cant remember as not loaded it for some time now

there are better rads out there and cpu blocks, depends what fans you have running on the rad?

p.s what thermal paste are you using? has it set yet/applied properly?have you cleaned block of debris?

math

As above not the best watercooling components that money can buy but certainly a good loop.

Nothing wrong with the temps either

Those temps are spot on mate, I can't see anything wrong here.

Though 1.35v does seem a little high for 3.8GHz, I take it your chip is a D0 and not C0/C1 stepping?

Temps appear right where they should be - what are you classing as "load"?

Give LinX a 20 runs pass and see what you max out at :D

I think in the term "Load" in general means when your CPU is being stressed, not idling. So when people asked for the load temperature, they usually mean when you are dumping 100% load on it with stress testing apps i.e. LinX,Intel Burn Test or Prime 95.

Idle temperature doesn't say much about your CPU, it is the load temperature that counts. The only time when idle temperature matters is when it's hitting 90 degrees idle, which usually means the Heatsink isn't seated properly on the CPU ;)

I think he knows that but was asking what engstrom0304 classes as load temps ;)

Some people say they get great temps and when asked what the used to test it was playing a game for an hour rather than a full on stress test program like IBT

I know, which is why I asked wht he was classing as load - Prime doesnt appear to heat my CPU up anywhere near as much as LinX or IBT, which is why I always plump for them - Idle temps are also more affected by ambients but its always "nice" to see a low idle temp ;)

edit PaulyD beat me to it - cheers mate :D

Using Prime 95 for stress testing.

Only other thing is that I tightened the block onto the backplate a lot, ie. until it squeked. Would it be better to release some pressure?

I used MX-2 that I used on my last build. Cleaned before hand using arcticlean.

I did use a small amount of brasso on the block base. The ketchup didnt seem to remove the tarnish, Did clean the other side well though. I cleaned brasso off though with arcticlean.

I get this with IBT, temps tend to be about 5-6c higher than p95 small fft, this is with the latest 2.4 ver of IBT.
