PS£ and USB Keyboard

Hi all

I am looking at buying a PS3 so I can link up with my mates on the net with MW2. I was wondering though, am I able to connect a USB keyboard and mouse to play this game at my desk on the monitor? If so does it work out okay for this game or are there any issues that I need to know?

No, you have to use the controller as the game has no native support for mouse and keyboard. There are adapters you can buy to allow you to use mouse and keyboard for all PS3 FPS games but they are a) expensive and b) totally unfair on everyone else using a controller.

Thankyou for the speedy response, was not getting any definate answers in my searches. I have only ever owned pc's really so finding it hard to adapt to the controller, now you mention it though it does sound a little unfair, will have to look into the console more.

Nobody is a natural at first but you do get the hang of it pretty quick, there's just a steep learning curve! A few days of online play and you'll be getting the hang of it.

Games like MW2 have auto-aim assist, so that coupled with practice should help you get the hang of it.

its not unfair, if u feel that its unfair buy one.

How is it not unfair? The game was designed to be used with a controller. Coming in with a keyboard and mouse that will increase the players accuracy ten fold is completely unfair. Its like having cross-platform multiplayer in MW2 for example. 360/PS3 vs PC. Completely ridiculous.

If devs wanted the game to be played with a keyboard and mouse, then they would have supplied one or made it exclusive to PC.

I have a fragfx and your not at an advantage there are still players better than you in game I just prefer to play with a mouse and keyboard instead of stuggling with a controller. The same can be said about a steering wheel or a joystick.

Except devs develop games to work with a steering wheel or joystick rather than have people shoehorn it into their games.

If you want to use a keyboard with your console, do it offline. Otherwise go play on the PC.

You'd have to be rubbish using it not to have an advantage, and furthermore just because you prefer to play with it does not make it fun for everyone else.

I hated using a pad at first but now I can hold my own, it just takes practice. That seems to be a lot to ask for some people but where's the sense of achievement in using a control system that is numerous times better than everyone else's?

Unreal Tournament 3 on PS3 has keyboard and mouse support.

A certain website i was looking at earlier has these mouse and kb adaptors for £12.99

If you're coming from using a PC and find it hard to use a pad then its fair enough IMO. There are lots of players using pads that are not far off PC players and that takes years of practise with a pad I'd imagine. So its a case of practise for years to match them, or use what you're good at already.

I don't have any FPS games on console as i cant get used to the pad but if i did buy one I'd have to get a KB and mouse or I'd just get pwned constantly. If PC gaming died out as a lot of people predict it will then I think KB and mouse support would become common place.
