Next Car after my BMW?

Its little wonder people avoid Motors!!!

You mean like the people who started the other two threads I linked to? Good advice can be gleaned from this forum but you need more information than "I want a new car to replace a car". Why should people here fish for the information if the OP is too lazy to provide any in the first place. Also the OP has a history of very weird threads/posts/msn conversations which doesn't help much.

What other Estates in the similar vain are there to say M Sport Touring?

Not BMW

The Jag (like Fox alluded to) , Alfa (yuk) Merc C-Class Perhaps?

Dare I say Mondeo? - Hardly in BMW's class in many eyes, but a worthy contender I'd still say....

Hmm, perhaps you have a point. On the other hand, I try to ignore peoples rep (deserved or not) I don't particularly feel he was that vague, were getting somewhere now anyway! :)

Turn the record off..Its boring now.

If you poured in as much energy into posting quality than hate you may be onto a winner.

Agree?[/QUOTE]

My brother in law had an A6 estate for a brief time and whilst it is not as good as the e60 that replaced it, it was a lot better than I'd thought once I looked at it & drove it (albeit briefly)

In answer to your question though, yes, Ugly, but don't judge a book by its cover etc blah blah.... :D

Edit: Funnily enough I don't like the Jag, different things suit different people....

It's a Jaguar XF. It is only available as a Saloon and the good ones start above your budget - you need £25-30k.

Otherwise yea, it's spot on for use as a dog carrier for somebody with 15k and a 100k mile 320d :p

lol

:D

Have you got a link to that Jag You mention?

i would go for a honda accord diesel estate, 2.2 type s. Might not be in the same status as the bmw or merc but is still bullet proof and fully loaded.

It's the X-Type - but to be honest although they are available its a poor buy for the money. It's built on the Mondeo platform as Jag's 3 Series rival. These days its a good buy for less than £10k but your money buys you better cars.

Realistically, your choices in the premium estate market are:

Similar size to what you have now:

Audi A4 Avant, BMW 3 Series Touring, Mercedes C Class Estate.

Of these the A4 is rather dull to drive but built well enough. The 3 Series is the drivers choice and class leader. The C Class was replaced in 2007 and many of the £15kish examples are the previous model which isn't an upgrade from an E46. If you can find a 2007 onwards C Class Estate for your budget its worthy of consideration along with the 3 Series. Of the remaining members of this class they are either crap (Hello Saab) or don't have an Estate variant (Hello Lexus).

So, moving up in size.

Audi A6 Avant, BMW 5 Series Touiring, Mercedes E Class Estate.

For A6 see A4, but bigger. Plus you've already said you dont like it. 5 Series is the class leader here, plenty of space in the touring variant, built reasonably well, lots of gadgets, but the looks are... very marmite. Ensure it's an M Sport. E Class - just replaced but there is no hope of a new model in your budget, so it'll be the 2002-2009 version. The Estate is absolutely enormous - the biggest load lugger in its class. Classy, prestigious and well suited to wafting about with an autobox but not the sporting choice.

Then outside the premium market you've got stuff like the Volvo V70 and... errr actually pretty much just the Volvo V70.

What about an SUV? Plenty of BMW X5 3.0d, Volvo XC90 etc around in budget.

Are you purposely trying to be odd by posting that. He's been advised several times to give a better description of what he wants. Surely another "lol easyrider" post wouldn't help him?

No. I'm trying to work out if he is a troll or not (and in turn if it is actually worth helping him out).

His odd behaviour certainly points to the former.

Fox have you drove the three litre diesel A4 Avant Quattro I want to know if that is dull to as I was considering one for my next car, my 1.9tdi is slighty dull like you say, but a damn good useful car in the bigger picture.

[TW]Fox and R420LA6X2/4MNA get it easy enough.

You haven't been around long enough to warrant any notion that you understand or know me.So don't even try.
