Essentially, it's the new year and no doubt many people have started some kind of photo a day, photo a week or a photo a month kind of projects. This is a thread for anyone on this forum who wants to share their links or shots from their project - be it to show and tell or receive critics from fellow members.

What do you need:
  • A brief explanation on what you project is about, perhaps how you're doing to attempt it and how frequently.
  • Give a link to where you'll have your images uploaded to periodically e.g. flickr, facebook e.t.c.
  • Share some of them photos to us here on OcUK :)

Let me get the ball rolling:

After my failed attempt at a 365 a couple of years back, I've started a new project (with intention to stick it through this year!), a photo will be taken weekly based on song titles/lyrics theme.

Here's the flickr set link
I will also be uploading a set up on my website link under Miscs :)

I think it's hard enough doing a general photo a day/week, never mind going by a theme :p

My first photo of the year isn't brilliant. But it's something I wanted to do anyway.

New year, new start....

Mine is just acting as a scrapbook diary kind of thing to start off with.

Your first image reminds me more of that rubbish new song by some woman called Tic Tok!

Awful tune.

Thank god I don't know or don't think I've heard of such women or song. Muse will probably be in my 52 quite often come to think of it :p

@peter, it's NYD, and you had to ask for 5 more mins? haha!

Think I'm going to start of gently with doing a 12, once a month out of all the photos I take select my favourite and post on the last day of that month / first day of the following month. No real theme to it just looking to post my best photo from the month ;)

My project is a 52 week project as means to prep for a big wedding Ive signed up to do mid year so I want to get back on the ball n be top of my game plan (also because hunting for work has left me a little depressed and ive let my photography slip)

52 weeks = 52 photographs of intent. I want to accomplish a 52 image portfolio of 2010 situated around portraiture/landscape combined. I also want to get my macro lens repaired in the next few weeks and start again on my creative side.

my uploaded work will feature as a link inside my online portfolio at www.lucid-composure.co.uk
you will see it listed as "fifty'two" and will be accessable after the first week of this year.

At the end of 2010 I will be choosing 12 photos from the 52 out of 4/5 per month givinig these a label of "january, feb march etc" and I will be printing these out onto canvas mid December and holding a exhibition in my local town at an unconfirmed venue.

My purpose for 52 rather than 365 is simple.
365 start off as a high standard of work but its too consistant to produce on a daily basis and I feel it becomes nothing more than a daily photo for the sake of a daily photo project.
52 gives me time to prep/plan and visit places to execute my project.

Looking forward to what is produced.

happy new year by the way.

Hope you don't mind me asking, but what are you using to code all of that site? It's really good and like what i'm looking to do - just different look and that but with the scrolling and all the arranged thumbnails etc.

Thanks, do you know if it needs anything specific to be hosted? Bit new to all that stuff and don't quite understand.

Sorry for derailing the thread everyone!

you just upload it directly to your root folder on your webspace and it'll run fine.
To customise it you will have to make changes in the .xml

Its all documented though.

drop us a mail if you got owt else to ask

Kesha is the artist, and it's Tik Tok. No.1 in 4 countries....

I only managed 49 of a 365 last year, so am considering starting a 52 to see if I can keep that going. Hopefully I'll get it started with something by next weekend!

I look forward to seeing what the rest of you do too

Think I'm going to try a 52 week one and make a point and having it done by every Wednesday to give me some incentive...I'll stick a link on my site when I start :)

I will be doing a project this year, following on from my mini Photo A Day project late last year, which only lasted for 50 days (Can be seen here - http://www.flickr.com/photos/scarysquirrel/sets/72157622447558742/)

I found that quality started getting slightly lower, and I found it kind of took over my life a bit. I got SO many nice comments, online, and surprisingly offline (via Facebook contacts who I then bumped into in the streets, even people I didn't know who had seen it via Helen's Facebook). Because I knew people were watching, I felt under pressure to produce amazing photos, which is difficult to do on a daily basis.

For this reason, I will be doing a 52, in which there will be no theme. The aim is simple; to ensure I am regularly taking photographs, to improve my ability, and to produce 52 photographs which I am proud of.

I am EXTREMELY critital of my own work (I wouldn't want it any other way) so hopefully I will produce 52 photos of a high quality :)

My Project 52 will be available to view on Flickr - http://www.flickr.com/photos/scarysquirrel/sets/72157623122341838/
The one photo which is currently in there is a placeholder as Flickr won't let you save a Set without a photo in it. It is not the first weeks photo as it was taken in December.

A 365 would be impossible for me to do, just don't have the time let alone the ability to take 365 decent photos! I like the idea of a 52 though, it might just be achievable, more likely to turn into a 12 though! I need to sort out my website, tieing it into something like this may just make me sort it...

I agree with most comments here about 365 - it's just not practical for me to be taking a photo every day, or at least not 365 photos that actually contain some thought and execution (and I'm not really interested in taking photos for the sake of it). So the 52 seems like a good idea, although still potentially quite demanding. I might think about it tomorrow and perhaps start quickly to get the first one of the year in :)

I joined the SingleTrackWorld forums 365 flickr group.
Be an interesting year and something to help me beat off the depression/worry of possibly impending MS, plus a chance to get used to the GF1.

Link to mine is here:

Impending MS? Sorry to hear that, sounds like the whole documentary side of the project could be of use to more than just yourself.
