Your best film of 2009?

Inglorious ******** was so overated imo, certainly not one of Quentin Tarantino's best films. District 9 for me.

Taken was 2008, pointed out above.

Tarantion's problem was that his first few films were brilliant, and to reach that height again is difficult.

I know hence why I edited it out, I almost said the wrestler. As already said a really **** year for films:o.

Here are the BFI's top 10 films of 2009, thought some of you would be interested.

10.Inglourious ********
9.AntiChrist
8.Bright Star
7.White Material
6.Up
5.Let The Right One In
4.The White Ribbon
3.35 Shots of Rum
2.The Hurt Locker
1.A Prophet

So for those of you saying 2009 has been a bad year for film.....you should reconsider. You just don't watch enough films and need to look outside conventional Hollywood productions.

How many of those 10 films have you actually seen? Personally I've seen 5 of those 10 and that doesn't include Up.

A suggestion from me

Fish Tank

The fact is though that "best film of 2009" pretty much means best Hollywood production of the year I guess.

Ink would be another suggestion although that's based on other people's positive views, I haven't seen it yet.

Oh and I liked this a lot:

I really don't think 2009 was a bad year for film, no better then recent years.

Hello again Gussy, I completely agree :)

There is much more to film's then Hollywood, but most people who have a passing interest or just the occasional cinema visit won't see much more then what Hollywood offers.

Yeah, It's a great shame, but you have to really enjoy film to go hunting about for decent World cinema and the art house stuff. Got a local place that shows lots near where I live :) £3-5 a ticket as well :D

It's a shame I've not been able to see more films this year, as I do normally go down and see what's on offer at the Pheonix Arts center :)

Was wondering when the film snobbery would turn up.

I started this thread as a POV not an elitest BS one.

OK. I dissed TAKEN but for a reason!

Gran Torino / Taken are both 2008, Gran Torino and Taken were both released in the US in early 2009 though, The Wrestler was very early 2009.

For the purpose of the thread it would be silly to consider Gran Torino a 2008 film, as 99% of film watchers will have seen it in 2009.

Keep your pants on, it's just a list of people's "best" (favourite)" film(s) of the year. If someone wants to make a comment then so be it. :p
