Asking this question on behalf of a mate of mine. He runs his own small recruitment company and does fairly well. He wants to do a distant learning MBA so he doesn't have to stop working. What type of qualifications would he need to start and what type of time investment is he looking at? Is it worth doing an MBA at all?

Think that's about it.

I read an interesting article in the Economist yesterday which seems to state that MBAs aren't really worthwhile anymore. However, it might be worth while doing it from a reputable university/acrediting body, such as Cranfield, Oxford, Cambridge and London Business school, being among the best in the world for example. I think the ultimate MBA is still done in the USA - but then it gets even more expensive.

This, pretty much (including The Economist :)). MBAs derive their value as much from brand and networking than anything you learn on the course. Either do a top MBA or you're wasting your time.
