Hey,

Currently using a Titan Fenrir on a Q6600 and it is dam loud. On XP I used speedwitch software to slow it down and make it quieter, but having just recently upgraded to Windows 7 I haven't found any equivalent software.

Anyone have any ideas, or I am thinking I could maybe just take the fan off, as the heatsink is HUGE, and I don't overclock it at all at the moment.

Cheers for help!

So, a new fan seems like best option, over say just slowing it down with software....

Cheers for ideas (and I am pretty sure it is attached properly, took hours to do mind!) - such a big bugga!

The fenrir fan is only loud at full tilt!! The only time you need your fan full tilt is when you are stress testing the CPU with Linx & prime95 and all that jazz. So what I did is have the fan blowing full blast (noisey) and then once I had determined I was stable, dropped the fan to the PWM setting in the bios. Now it blows pretty quiet and ramps things up if the CPU starts getting hot. However nothing I know of batters your CPU like those testing apps so even encoding in handbrake (multi thread aware encoder) only made the fan noise up a little. Gaming it gets a tad louder but you dont need your fan blowing full tilt all day when its downloading things etc.

the titan has 4 pin connector - which gives it special abilities - on the ud5 as long as you have the 4 pin on the CPU FAN Header (labeled on the board nr CPU) you can activate the PWM function in the bios. Get to BIOS - then PC HEALTH STATUS - in there you have an option (I forget ) like SMART FAN - enable it - then you can set the mode to PWM. Have a look in there and you should get what I mean. This way the fan runs according to CPU stress, idle with nothing going nice and quiet, heavy duty action might get a bit noisier, but not so loud as FULL BLAST.

Cheers for all your help, made it into the bios an just enabled everything to do with fans to auto, now as quiet as quiet as can be, thanks. :D:D
