The Official Motorola Milestone Thread

No i'm using the mrs' crappy dell laptop :p

I've read of people not liking it but i for one like it and enjoy using it.

hows the keyboard?

Will take a bit of getting used to, buttons are very small but so far accuracy is fair. Give me a week to get a feel for it and I should be able to give a better answer. :)

Wow I simply cannot believe how good this phone is for browsing on! If you set text size to large and then zoom out you get awesome full page browsing with very legible text... and it really is CRYSTAL clear and pin sharp. Simply mind-blowing, and looked 10x better than my friends iPhone when we put them side by side at work. DOn't even ask about my other friends N97... :D.

I need confirmation that the Milestone gets Android 2.1 The UI changes on the Nexus look great.

Who would likely answer a query about 2.1 on the Milestone? Worth contacting Motorola?

Of course its getting Android 2.1 (it's a Google experience phone, it will get updates for a long time)... as is almost every other recent Android phone.

Are there any other 3.7" Capacitive touchscreen smart phones running Android with a slide out Qwerty Keyboard out or comming out soon?

Looking at the HTC roadmap for next year, nothing from them. I have been keeping an eye out for similar devices and seen nothing as of yet. I doubt you'll be disappointed with the Milestone.

Not sure if I should order mine yet considering all the problems caused by snow ATM.

Yeah. If you want a 3.7" Capacitive touch screen Android device they are ten a penny. But ones with a slide out keyboard appear to be.... Just the Milestone, and no plans for any others. Everyone just seems to be copying the iPhone.

Can you get the Milestone from anywhere other than Expansys? Will you likely be able to by mid feb?

Just because iPhone had a virtual keyboard first doesn't mean every other phone after it is copying the iPhone now.

A virtual keyboard is the eventual shift that phones are heading and the current batch of smartphones with capacitive screens do them very very well.

The only reason do have a hardware keyboard really is for specific apps (emulation/gaming) and of course for purists who still don't believe in virtual keyboards.

I can now type just as fast on my HTC Magic as I can on the G1.

I'd probably use the virtual keyboard 7 times out of 10, but it's nice to have the keyboard there for Emulators and more advanced apps.

Heads up people! Today marks the start of the 24.5 day period where the milestones' camera focuses properly! make use of it as much as you can!

:D
