Packing in the the smokes

Hahahaha................ahh January.

So you've got to be one of two people:

someone who has never smoked, so has never had to experience giving up.

or

someone who smokes, enjoys it as a vice and has no intention of giving up. (like a good friend of mine, who makes this time of year difficult for a lot of people, think devil on shoulder!)

Cos you're certainly not someone who has managed to kick the habit, else you'd have a little more sympathy and encouraging words for those trying to knock it on the head. :)

fifty THOUSAND pounds.

p.s cool story bro
Don't know why you are finding it hard to believe? He isn't exactly trying to come across as cool, he had issues and has sorted them out, or at least getting there. To smoke 2oz in a week would be far too easy if that was your life.

I've been smoking about 8 a day for over 2 years. Not addicted at all, I only smoke because my friends at college smoke.

Haven't had a cigarette for 2 weeks now due to holidays and not going out, not craving for one either. I only shared one joint on new years eve with some mates.

been planning this for a while myself and was considering getting one of those electronic cigs as my friend who was a heavy smoker seems to be fairly impressed..anyone here tried one??

I gave up a year and a bit ago.

I got a severe case of bronchitus and ended up waking up because I could not breath without a lot of effort. Lots of sticky rubbish in my lungs that I just couldn't cough out.

I used to smoke rollups and after a bit of playing about finally stopped. I tried the patchs, no effect for me, inhaler, again no noticable effect and gum which took the cravings right away.

After using the gum for the first 3 days I was able to continue with just will power. I only got through half a packet and only took it when the cravings got really strong.

The habit was harder than the cravings and I still get the feeling of missing having a cig now and then. I then think about the difficulty in breathing I had and about my kids and there is really no contest.

i used champix and found it to be like a miracle cure, got them on the nhs so just the price of a prescription for 2 weeks worth, they can make you feel sick if taken on a empty stomach.

Hi I need some advice :)

My sisters 24 and has been smoking for 9 years. She's trying to give up smoking and I don't know how best to support her. To the guys giving up smoking: would you be annoyed if someone text you everyday asking you how it's going? I want to show my support but then again I don't want to keep reminding her of cigarettes. I've bought her some Nicorette patches and nicotine gum as she doesn't have much money.

I gave up using patches best thing i ever did . The smell of people who smoke is so bad now i just refuse to talk to them it makes me feel sick .:D

I went to the docs last week and got some Champix. On the first week at the mo so I'm taking the pills but still smoking, I give up entirely this coming monday.

So far they've been great, after even the 3rd day on 1 pill (you take 2 a day after the first week) I'm finding myself less and less inclined to smoke. I've had 3/4 a day since sunday where I'm usually at least 10 a day. Even the ones I smoked I was doing out of habit, not because I felt I actually wanted them.

Well done to all those that have managed to abstain so far!

Day 5, being stuck at home is making things more challenging. Being at work it's easy to get through the day, sitting at home it's far too tempting to go through the motions of making a cuppa and standing outside to have a smoke...

Damn you snow, you're not going to thwart this attempt.
