Cable braiding / sleeving

hope to do this myself soon, just more for the hell of it than anything else.

What size would i be looking at for the likes of fan cables etc.

Niiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiice touch, Bit overkill for me tbh. I like mine to be understated and then rock people's world... and by people I mean...errr...me

/me invests in some braiding

i justtried to find this stuff on ebay.... not sure if i found the right stuff but do you have to use awire / cloth type material and weave them arround wires and then heatshrink on top??? or can u purchase pre braded material stuff :S?

its confusing what and how you do this.

Good guide, i'm still undecided wheater to do the PSU individually braid, 3mm per line or one big one over all of it?

thanks Raikiri.

As for individually braiding each cable of the PSU, what i am planning on doing is buying extenders (for the likes of the 8 pin, 24 pin and maybe the 6/8 pin cables) and just brading those. Thus not having to open up my PSU and keeping the warrenty.

Getting all those cables behind the side panel might be a challenge though.

I used extenders for all of my 24 / 8 and 6 pin cables. Braid was from mdpc-x:

i have a modular PSU but i am guying to possibly buy spair cables incase i mess some up,

just tried taking apart an old cable with the staple method which completely failed so first thing iel purchase is a PSU mod tool kit then progress with braiding with initial practice for when i get my next rig or mess about with my current setup :P

pics will be posted :)

Hey guys, I have also been looking at braiding my cables and now I kind of have an idea as to which braiding thread sizes I should go for and heatshrink. Thanks for clearing this up for me.

I am aware of the rules of stating competitors prices and names etc but I would like to ask :-

@ Raikiri (if you have a way for me to contact you, I'd love to find out where you got that red and black braid). I would greatly appreciate it if you could point me in the right direction of getting some.

well if you google

"red and black dense weave braid" the top link is the company that supplies
Just goto the shop instead of the forum

yeah i want that too, looks easy enough plus with my power supply I don't have to do it all ;)

need to get a heat gun means I m a noob at it :(

A lighter works just as well, just be careful otherwise you can scorch it (Not a problem with black, but white etc, not good!)

Or failing that, a gas soldering iron which comes with a nozzle. Aldi had some in a while back (I have 2).

Just typing in black braid into google shopping + a size will give you plenty of results!

If you click on my trust (and set yours up) you'll see contact info :) You'll be able to do that for anybody who has set it up as well.

I'm sticking with my toaster method, you can make a mid-mod snack at the same time :D
