Hi

It's been quite some time since I've built my own pc and tinkered with OC'ing, so I'm looking at building a system for under £900. I'm a software dev and "light" gamer but I'm looking for build that can be a jack of all trades so to speak! I have thermal paste and a 22" Monitor but need to know if anyone can spot any problems or advise on a change of hardware etc and keep me in budget.

This is what I've got so far

Smashing build right there mate, would not change a thing.

If you not bothered about dx11, I would move up to a more powerful card such as; 4890.

Other than that mate, cracking build.

DX11 sucks right now. Loads of people moaning about FPS. Then again, ATI 10.1 drivers are being released soon. 4890s are around £140 if you can stretch

Cheers

I'm not sure how much serious gaming I'll have time for but I will want the to OC and get that extra bit of horse power mainly for Software Dev and Audio/Video editing and since its been so long and have forgot quite a bit about OC'ing I've chosen the Crosshair III board to make my life easier even if it does cost that extra bit more.

I'll take a look at the 4890s then, take it the PSU will have no trouble with handling this?

The psu will handle 2 4890's in crossfire mate, so don't worry. It's more than enough :D

looks great, personally i would keep the 5770, even though there is hardly any direct x11 games out at the minute, there will be. the psu will be fine.

Just built a very similar spec for my mate, may i suggest the Antec 300? Its a cracking case for the money  Either way you won't be dissapointed!

Yeah I built a system for my cousin last month and used the Antec 300, It's a very good case but I'd like to showcase my pc a little this time round (vain as that may be), plus later down the line I may look at installing a water cooling system and the Lancool has nice holes for the tubes.
