I have a new version of the official MS date transfer kit (cable and disc) which I'm happy to lend out to OcUK members. My kit is the current version which should work for transfers between 20 - 60/120/250 or 60 - 120/250 or 120 - 250 official drives. Microsoft are now charging for this cable.

In order to manage this i've started this thread, before posting in here please read the following few simple 'guidelines', this will help me keep track of things better and stop the thread filling up with piddle. I'll maintain a list on this 2nd post of who's waiting for the cable. By asking and being sent the cable you agree to follow these guidelines, if you don't like them them don't post!

Guidelines

  • The kit remains my property, anyone lending said kit agrees to pay for the current cost of it's replacement if the kit is lost/damaged/not returned in a reasonable time, whilst in their care
  • Unless agreed with me the kit needs to be returned to me after use
  • Lenders pay for all postage costs at cost and the cost of the kit is 'insured' whilst posted
  • Once requested your username will be added to the list on the 2nd post, the kit will be sent to users in strict order of requesting
  • It is expected that once the kit is sent out it is returned within 7-10 days
  • The kit will only be lent to members of good standing with MM access unless agreed otherwise by me
  • Lenders must ensure that there current trust email account is accessible by them in in order to facilitate communication
  • Please do not post in here unless you want adding for the cable, feel free to ask any questions via trust mail or search the forum - it's probably been covered already - thanks

Sorry for sounding so Draconian, if the above is followed hopefully we'll have a cable to loan round for the forseeable future and there shouldn't be any messing about. If anyone has any comments / questions please feel free to message me via trust email.

Thanks

Craig

Just sent a trust email with my postage details - not sure if you've emailed me but I've only received one from you so far! Send me one back with the postage details and we'll get this ball rolling!

posted to lolism today. solaris, your up next once it's returned to me, can you mail me your address via trust so we can get things in place for a quick turn around.

If this arrives tomorrow (someone will be in the house all day to sign for it) i'll send back on Friday and hopefully you should receive by Saturday!

Sorry to hijack and go OT but if you already have a cable and no disc, can you just find the softwarae online and burn it to a disc? Am just asking as my friend has stupidly lost my disc after me lending him it and now he cant use it.

I've never understood these threads, MS sent me my cable in under a week, surely its quicker to ask MS than wait for a a cable through one of these threads?

Is this the cable that you send off to MS for, which requires you to be logged into Live everytime after you've done the transfer, or does this one work without that requirement? I already have the MS cable that I ordered a few weeks ago, but I really don't like the idea of it needing to be on Live constantly just to be able to access my data on the drive. If I lose connection for whatever reason, then I can't really use my 360.

If this cable kit doesn't have this requirement, can you put me down on the list please?

As I mention in my post above, the cable from MS requires you to be logged into Live when you wish to access the transferred data. Sort of their own version of DRM. I find that a bit of a pain and so I would prefer to transfer it all in another way. I assume that this cable kit provides that other way :)

Thanks for clearing that up and posting the first time in a thread without bothering to read it, the entire 14 posts.

I'm told MS are charging £23 for this cable now, hence the reason for a loan round.

I sent off the form for a cable from MS about five weeks ago, and still nothing yet.

On that basis, is there a chance I could be added to the request list?

I thought that the free cable that you send off to MS would only work with your own XBoxes and no other, hence the need to give them the serial numbers of both consoles. Is the cable you're sending around the one ordered free from MS or is it a different cable and thus the DRM issue won't apply?
