So I'm due for an eye test and want to try contacts again. I gave them up during my student years as I couldn't afford them.

Now, I'm finding it difficult to find a good opticians. Specsavers is where I always used to go but I've found my local ones have really poor staff who keep making mistakes and provide poor after-care. I have a grudge against D&A after they sold me a pair of glasses of the wrong prescription and took ages to budge on a replacement or refund so that leaves, er, Vision Express, who I have no experience of.

Where do you go to get your eyes checked? Any recommendations?

I get mine tested at Boots, always found that they do it well. I then take the prescription to a local optician supplier who does them for half the price of any high street store :) He's in West Lothian Scotland if anyone is interested!

Er, he isn't based in West Calder by any chance?

I went for my first eye test in ages a few days ago at vision express ... very pleased with service and quick turnaround.

Have to go back though, as apparently I have "high pressure" in my eyes :p

I go to boots, have a vision plan with them, get my contacts, solution, aftercare, spare pairs of lenses and a reasonable discount of specs, which can be used in conjunction with any offers they have on.

Never had a problem with Vision Express, good service, nice people. And all of my glasses from them have been free thus far (under 16s get a voucher). That and they have free hot chocolate :)
