Is my 3D card broken?

Keep us updated on the driver versions you try, your issue sounds much like my gtx 280.

I think its the psu.. myself.

P.s Can you go over 3.0ghz with the quad?. I think you will find with a decent psu you should reach 3.4 or even 3.6 with a bit of work is it a go series?

Hi Setter,

I've just downloaded and installed the 2 month old drivers for my card:

GeForce/ION Release 191 WHQL - 191.07 5.10.2009

So far everything seems fine. I've been playing COD 4 for about half an hour (would have crashed in about 15-20 minutes on the old (new) drivers) and everything seems fine. The temperature has dropped considerably, it used to average around 80-85c on COD 4 maxed out (1680 x 1050) and now it's at 65-70c.

I'll keep you posted if I get any crashes or anything else.

Thanks.

Disregard what I just said...

The computer now keeps restarting. I'll be in a game and on Vent, then a blakc screen and a restart. Is this just a case of my crappy PSU not being able to handle the card even though it's 750 watt? I can't afford to buy multiple things so I need to know for definite.

My issue first started when i was using 191.07, switched to 195.62 and the problem continued.

Like I said i'm skint, i've just had a wee look on eBay. Would this be suitable because at the moment I can't afford owt else:

NO! thats just another crappy psu, if you can streach to £70 you'll be able to get this http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=CA-014-CS&tool=3 remember what i said. qaulity of watts not qauntity.. or http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=CA-008-CS&groupid=701&catid=123&subcat=1084

If your using a power supply similar to the one you linked, i wouldnt be surprised if its that causing your problem.

I forgot to mention that my 9800 GTX + worked fine on the power supply I have not, however the 285 is not.

Before I commit, is the only thing wrong with it the power supply then?

I've tried 3 different set's of drivers and it still restarts after about 30 minutes play.

It's the power supply a think the gtx285 uses a lot more power than the 9800gtx
