Hi Guys,

Just wondering if anyone else has had a similar issue. I just find the magic mouse uncomfortable for use for prolonged periods of time. Are you supposed to rest the palm of your hand on the mouse? I am unable to do this, and have to hold the mouse with my hand in the shape as though I'm turning a door knob, so it gets uncomfortable and have resorted to using my old logitech. Is it just me and everyone else is finding it comfotable and easy to use or have people obtained the same findings as me?

Cheers

How do you rest your palm on the mouse? I hold it with my ring finger and thumb and have my index and middle finger floating above the mouse for when I want to click it with my palm resting on the desk. :)

You put your palm on the surface you are using the mouse on (so it's behind the mouse) then rest two fingers on top and your thumb and little finger on the sides.

Well that's what I do and I can use the Magic Mouse for hours no problems.

Also do this though am getting fed up with the poor battery life for it.

I just rest my fingers on the place where the buttons would be.

I have big hands so most of my hand is on the desk behind it, but it means the fatty part of my palm is on the back and it's resting.

I love my Magic Mouse :)

Mines been great. You sure you've not got the Bluetooth bug?

Hell I have girly hands and I rest the meaty part of my palm behind the Magic Mouse. I too love it. Well love it + MagicPrefs (or is that MousePrefs)

I tried one briefly in the apple store in Milton Keynes yesterday just to see what it was like to use, It wasn't actually as uncomfortable as I was expecting. In reality it was far too small and low profile for my hand to rest comfortably on it over a period of time.

I personally think gestures should be limited to flat devices, they are excellent on my iphone and on my trackpad but on a mouse, its quicker and more comfortable just to click a back button on my G5.

Gestures will make it to desktops, but when we have 20-27" touch screens in the imac, moving windows with a flick of a finger like in the movies.

Get it ?.. got it ? ... good !

Sorry I havn't replied in a while - my apologies, I've been settling back in the South.

It just doesn't sit naturally in my hand, it's so annoying. I have to hold it like a doorknob because i cant rest the palm of my hand on it as I can't click it with ease!

After using the mouse for a few weeks, I've resorted back to my 3 year old logitech which feels amazing to use! I suppose some people find the magic mouse easy to use, but I agree with the above poster...they don't get mice! Hehe :)

Sounds like you want the whole of your palm resting on the mouse?

I have the bit just behind the back of the knuckles resting on the top of mine, the palm is actually sitting on the back or on the desk.

If it's not to your liking, take it back

I love the magic mouse. Works really well, tracks perfectly and I never have any comfort issues. The scrolling is immense and since downloading MagicPref for it I have got gestures, 3 finger clicks etc set up perfectly.

My old logitech didnt like working on the mac for some reason. Previous one was fine but the most recent laser one was poor. I cant fault the magic mouse though.

both my wife and i are happy with the mouse, as many the main part of my hand rests on the desk and i hold it with my thumb and ring finger.

battery life does suck tho' but i just have 2 on permanent charge for it!

Touchscreens won't ever happen tbh.

My 26" Hazro is 2ft away as per guidelines, not going to be able to touch that am I?

I recon a flat planel touch screen about 10" in size will be placed where the mouse and keyboard used to be...

susssssh everything will be just like the control panel for entering zion in the matrix :)

Also I could reach a screen 2ft away, you will have to have a smaller screen in the future stubby arm man :P
