Fastest PCIe 1x graphics card (or will normal cards work)?

Does anyone know what's the fastest PCIe 1x graphics card? Or would a normal PCIe card work ok (but slower)?


EDIT: I think I've found out. It seems that a normal 16x card will run in a 1x slot. I have an old 7800GTX laying around so that will do In case anyone is wondering, I'm trying to work out how to get a low end laptop to drive a dual-link DVI monitor (Dell 3007WFP-HC). It seems you can buy PCIe expansion boxes that plug into the ExpressCard slot. It's never going to be a gaming monster but it will at least get a low end laptop to drive a 2560x1600 resolution which is what I was after

Not yet. But I've found quite a few forums where a similar question was asked, and the answer was "yes it should work".
