old news but i finally upgraded the hd in my PS3

Bought a 60€ 320 scorpio and installed it.

Upgraded from my 40GB standard one

I have a few games bought but the back up took (1h 30mins) :eek:

With the restore taking the same amount of time.

Changing the disks over took around 5 mins and is so easy to do.

Actually worth doing as the amount of dust that was in the drive bay was shocking...

Is it possible to take the covers off the PS3 and air blow it mine must be full of dust now.

If you have a 40GB model you can do the fan test (Google it).

But yes, blowing a can of compressed air through the vents shouldn't be a problem.

Sony have advised against doing this, apparently it can damage the fan.

Sounds a bit odd. It's only making the fan spin at full RPM, surely the same thing would happen if the system overheated somehow?
