Naaay lad. Mine is still going strong. If I had a spare bit of cash I'd get something a bit beefier out of greed and lust, but the higher end 8800s are still adequate.

I know the requirements look a bit steep, but it runs on consoles right? I should be fine.

8800 will be fine,i hope the new gt300s come out for it in time though
 
Had a 8800 gtx and sure they are still able to run games like crysis and of course any console port but you got to get to the point where an upgrade allows you to push to a better graphic setting and higher res.
Got a 260gtx(free) after a 8800gtx and i noticed a good difference in crysis and gta 4. Just becuase a game is a console port doesnt mean you should run it at console quality.
I'm hoping BC2 will make good use of hardware tessellation and if it does then a dx11 card is the next upgrade.
 
Just hpe the steam versio nis actually properly intergrated.

ie you can send invites + join people from thier chat window etc.

But i get the feeling it will just be retail with the option to redownload at will.
 
Well this thread has convinced me to pre-order. It was a good thread too until all the fighting :P

Its a shame that there is no limit edition + beta access deal out there though.
 
Is it really looking so sweet? No Mod Tools, No Public Server Files, No PB Streaming, No Battlerecorder. Games taken a step backwards just like MW2.

Pb streaming is being looked into, and im pretty sure that bf2 and 2142 also just had people renting out servers with no pub server files available. Mod tools has long been known about, the engines in its infancy and creating assets for it according to dice is hard even for them at the present time.

Battle recorders only really interesting for people wanting to make movies, im not even sure if its been confirmed that its definately not in the game, either way only a big loss to those who want to make movies using it.

Nobody used them though. You can't run a Ranked server on your own box, amongst other issues. For those that currently play on Ranked servers it will work out exactly as before.

PC ports very rarely vastly exceed the console counterpart in anything but resolution and image quality, therefore a 8800 should be ample. We don't know what they are doing with DX11 yet, it could just be a token gesture (see Crysis DX9 vs DX10).

If it turns out they have really gone to town with the PC version then I will eat my hat and consider upgrading. It would be lovely to see Dice adopt tessellation so early.
 
recommended specs are a decent quad and a 260gtx so those on older cards will want to upgrade.

is it true that there not releasing dedi files and all dedis are controlled by them ?
 
Hmm, no dedicated server tools for the public or modding tools.

Not to bothered about the modding tools, only BF mod I've ever played was DC. Was going to stick a dedicated on box at work though. Shame.
