Theres no limit, theres no rush. Cheaper prices might crop up with BETA access :p

Will order on the 26th or something :D

Pb streaming is being looked into, and im pretty sure that bf2 and 2142 also just had people renting out servers with no pub server files available. Mod tools has long been known about, the engines in its infancy and creating assets for it according to dice is hard even for them at the present time.

Battle recorders only really interesting for people wanting to make movies, im not even sure if its been confirmed that its definately not in the game, either way only a big loss to those who want to make movies using it.

Oh please stop lapping up the developers bull****, they just killed competitive play on this game on their own, everyone bitched about MW2, but frankly this is no better

people really dont understand?

to have a RANKED SERVER you buy from a partner of EA... youve never been abled to run a RANKED SERVER personally. What the hell are you lot winging about?

However a majority of the the games logic is controlled by the server and there will be Serverside control options for the dedicated servers.

Will there be an option to have my own dedicated server?
Yes, DICE will have trusted partners with datacenters worldwide that you'll be able to rent a dedicated server from ensuring you always have a quality server in your region.

How much will it cost to rent a dedicated server for Battlefield Bad Company 2?
Because these are offered by the trusted partners we can't answer that, but they will be priced fairly according to your market.

Can I control my server with remote admin tools?
Yes, you will have the ability manage your server via remote admin tools allowing you to manage your server, your way.

Is there the option to give my server a custom name?
Yes, you'll be able to name your server what you like.

Will I be able to make a reserve list for my server?
Yes, you will be able to reserve a limited amount of space on your server when public for whom ever you like.

Am I able to host a private match?
Yes, you will be able to password protect your server.

Is there a client server browser to view server lists?
Yes, clients on the PC will have a full server's browser to select the server they'd like to play on.

Can I earn ranks and rewards on my rented server?
Yes! You will be able to run your server as Ranked allowing you to still earn unlocks, rewards, and host a server for all to enjoy.

Don't see the big deal, it'll no doubt be the same partners as BF2/BF2142 and plenty of clans rented servers from them, infact much of what are left are clan/community servers rented from partners, such as Multiplay etc.

problem is as i understand ill have to pay to have my own server where as i already have a box.in a location.

so basically im renting a server for the sake of ea .

so extra cost to do what could be done for what i already pay. also less features control than normal.

yes bf games before have been like this but thought this might be different.

oh well avp come on :p

to normal everyday people it doesnt make 1 bit of difference for people renting boxes after mw2 fail it is a bigish blow

No actually i do understand perfectly, they have not released any server files meaning that you have to rent through one of their partners, will kill the chances of true competitive gameplay. As will everything else they have left out. A HUGE amount of clans have their own box on which they host servers for all the games they play, very few people can afford to spend the ludicrous amounts of money it would cost to hire a server out for every game they play.

The big issues with free dedicated servers, or rather the lack of, are a) clans *want* unranked servers for competitive play, b) having to rent dedicated servers is basically a monthly fee just like in an MMO, c) these trusted partners might not offer dedicated servers in most countries like Finland. Most of you OC.uk users don't have to worry about this since UK is a major market like US and few others, but what about the other ~190 countries in the world? It's instantly a huge disadvantage if every Finn has to play with 60ms+ latency instead of 10ms especially in competitive play.

To me it seems like Dice just decided to completely ignore the competitive side of their fanbase exactly like Infinity Ward did with MW2. Dice had everything to win but with this decision they lost the exact same crowd IW did. Might not mean much to most of you but sooner or later one fps will swoop the world and rise to the top of competitive gaming. And that game will be in a good shape for years to come.

I think the beta is exclusive to play for pre orders .

"How To Get Access: Reserve Battlefield Bad Company 2 is the most sure fire way, but we are still working with Retailers & e-Tailers that wish to participate (it's up to them). If you're eager to ensure you get in the two confirmed distributors to Pre-Order are the EA Store and at GameStop.com. We'll have another Blog at a later date with an update on the retailers & e-Tailers that have teamed up with us as well as alternate channels to obtain a Closed Beta Key."

EA store is the main store they are marketing right now to get into the beta. Not that EA store itself shows that anywhere on their site.. Play.com and few other e-tailers have already announced that they are part of the program too, but everyone who ordered from EA store should be in the beta just as well. Plus the -25% voucher code still works, too (VoucherCodes.com25%)

I never saw the BF series as competitive tbh.

Massive pub game that is incredibly fun :D

Oooh - couple of days old, but I know a few people still were asking:

The battle for Port Valdez is fought alongside the waterline towards a great oil industrial landscape in the Alaskan mountains. In their arsenal there are Main Battle Tanks as well as fast-moving Quad Bikes and mobile armored AA. It's a vehicle focused battle, but with plenty of infantry combat.
