I was just watching this on television with my family. Is it just me, or is the character and the program as a whole a work of absolute genius? I can't think of anything else that's so universally funny, and so so simple.

Rowan Atkinson is a genius in his own right, but how he is able to make situations so simple so funny is beyond me....

Who else loves Mr. Bean? :D

Yup, huge fan here. You're right about universal appeal. It's almost like the old silent comedies, my missus's family don't speak any English yet also love Mr Bean just as much as us. :)

He's a genius. I love the park bench episode with the sandwich. His subtle mannerisms are incredible and he communicates so much across the screen without even saying a word. No matter how many times you watch it, it'll always make you laugh.

I have to say I'm a fan of anything Rowan Atkinson does and you're right about the fact that his simple style of comedy can make anyone laugh, no matter you're age, where you're from or whatever language you speak.

I don't know many other comedians/actors/writers who can do it and I never get tired of his sort of humour. He is truly a great no doubt about it. :)

He's an absolute genius. His mannerisms and rubber face are superb. Can watch the same episodes over and over and still laugh.

Rowan Atkinson is brilliant in everything he does. His rubber face is what does it for me :D

This video alone is a work of genius.

Some sequences (like the Car) are classic, reminds me a lot of Michael Crawford in his Frank Spencer role, particularly the legendary Frank Spencer on roller skates going down the roads sequence.

My favourite Mr Bean one though was the one where he goes to sit the exam and tries to get one over on the guy sat next to him by pulling dozens of pens out :)

Thinking about it his facial expressions and mannerisms are absolute quality; he gets across so much without speaking its quite incredible. :)

I forgot how funny that driving sketch was.

Got to add my weight to the Rowan fan club. He is a comedy genius and a very interesting chap to listen to when interviewed.
I remember the car sketch as well. Anyone remember the one where he's in a hotel and gets locked out of his room naked for some reason? Ends up using an "Exit" sign and a "No entry" sign to cover himself up. :D

This video alone is a work of genius.
Agreed. Must have taken absolute ages to work that out and perfect it. :)

Watched a few over Christmas with my boys (7 and 4), the three of us were in hysterics! Absolutely brilliant.
