Street Fighter (SFIV, SSFIV, HDR)

No, but Goukens back throw should never land as the game gives you loads of extra time to tech it. It's a bad setup method.

Well Im not sure about offline play, but online, trying to tech Arth's back throws, I would probably get 1 in 10.

Is there any secret to it K?

Don't mash, press throw once after every blocked move. Use the nubcake option select added to SFIV (lp+lk for a lk) lots instead of random cmp's etc.

Probably already posted in this thread but that Sagat power up thing -

It's confirmed now that Sagat's EX power up has evasion properties and Gootecks says it powers up his next uppercut by 2x. Still not clear if it just evades throws or actual attacks as well.

Also, pointed out by Shin_DVDz, his Standing Light Kick is now two hits instead of one now. It's not clear if it is still special cancelable.

Believe or not this YouTube comment about Ryu's new ultra -

"This ultra can be FADC'd like Metsu Hadouken, but you'll miss the first 2 hits and do a lot less damage."

Ryu definately got the best ultra. Unless I am missing something, top tier got better, and people like Guile got a tiny bit better. I thought SSFIV was to close the gap, not keep it the same.

I'd read that Sagat can still do kara TU/TK/fireball, but they've lowered his health. And i think Ryu's old ultra will still be the better choice.

It's hard to say that top tier definitely got better, since we don't have new frame data. Sagat's tiger shots could have more startup/recovery, and some moves may do less damage and have smaller hit boxes for all we know.

Not sure if anyone else finds this but I keep changing characters depending on mood and how I play :D

Have been playing honda recently and today decided to try cammy again and just won 2 championship things

I don't really have a main character now, just alternate between cammy/honda/sagat/ryu and sometimes abel (really want to learn abel after watching some videos eg: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2K1ERMrVo5s)

Trying to learn more charge characters but only one I seem ok at is honda atm.
Tried Balrog but he seems really repetitive and I can't get the headbutt out quick enough :(

Artheas, true enough I suppose. Guess we will just need to wait and see.

I fired up my 360 SFIV in I do not know how long (I play on PSN mostly) and boy was I in for a surprise. After playing 5 uppercut spammers and about to give up, I come across a Ryu. It was one of the best learning experiences I have had on the game. This Ryu was tight. Hit nearly every combo and used focus attacks incredibly well. Before the connection disconnected (probably wireless issue) we had 19 games. I think I beat him three times and came close on other occasions. I google his name (Yona Arq) and I get results. Seems to be some Spain national player. I think this was the final match and he came second (since he lost)

This seems to be him in group stages -

My Ryu goes back to the drawing board. I was surprised he played me for 19 games. Usually people who kick your ass just leave. Hoping he saw something in me to keep playing. :P

Not sure I understood the second bit Kreeeee.

Basically you're saying dont hammer LK+LP (i.e. dont mash)?

Press throw once after every blocked move - You reffering to yourself in terms of trying to tech? Or you just saying the best way to throw is to "press throw once" after every block?

Nubcake option - i.e assign LK+LP to one button? E.g. could assign it to R2 or L2 button?

And cmp's?

Cheers K.

And my two cents regarding who has improved and who has not.
Im personally not sure about Ryus new Ultra, we have to see how it can be used in combos.
I personally feel (no bias... honest :p) from what I have seen, Guile has had some good improvement, his standard hits seem to do a fair bit of damage, his Flash Kick has tightened up a bit but Im not sure about his HP though.
And last but not least, I feel Sonic Hurricane has the potential to have saved Guiles ass and bring him up the Tiered ranks.

Cant wait to see what the next Tiering will be like.

Press throw once, every time you block a move.

During a hit string idiots will mash DP, better players will mash crouch throw, and if the opponent tries to throw mid string you'll tech it, and if they mess up their combo you get a free combo, like Bison's clk clk clk knee press. If they mess up then block you get a safe block string for yourself to apply the pressure, Bison's is the same in this example as his knees are stupidly safe on block.

Wrong. A counter Ultra is one purely designed to punish stupid mistakes rather than be combo-able (Like Akuma/Vega/Bison). This is bad because it makes the Ultra next to useless against opponents with some grey matter.

Makes sense. So basically people want the above characters to like have an option to FADC into their ultra? Why Capcom did not have that to start with is beyond me.

Desperate question - SSF4 is never gonna get a PC release right? So loving the new extras but worried about the PS3 net code...

ps3ud0

Decided to fire up SF4 again today, its such a shame tbh. What games i managed to get were great, i've found i'm probably better than i was before i stopped playing a month or so back as i've kicked those bad habits and am experimenting more. The problem lies with the fact that in 30 mins of game time i managed to have 4, yes 4, games. The PS3 matchmaking is just a joke tbh.
