Battlefield BC2 looking dam sweet

The big issues with free dedicated servers, or rather the lack of, are a) clans *want* unranked servers for competitive play, b) having to rent dedicated servers is basically a monthly fee just like in an MMO, c) these trusted partners might not offer dedicated servers in most countries like Finland. Most of you OC.uk users don't have to worry about this since UK is a major market like US and few others, but what about the other ~190 countries in the world? It's instantly a huge disadvantage if every Finn has to play with 60ms+ latency instead of 10ms especially in competitive play.

To me it seems like Dice just decided to completely ignore the competitive side of their fanbase exactly like Infinity Ward did with MW2. Dice had everything to win but with this decision they lost the exact same crowd IW did. Might not mean much to most of you but sooner or later one fps will swoop the world and rise to the top of competitive gaming. And that game will be in a good shape for years to come.

know what they decided was lets cash in make people buy the game and rent our dedis :(

for normal everyday users doesnt matter. for clans with dedi boxes it is not good news .

Precisely, plus it makes PB Streaming impossible.

I got it reserved from Play as i want to try the beta and i also got it reserved at game, might give the standard one to me bro.

I'm probably going to pre-order from play. Much rather be able to play the beta for a month than have a couple of unlocks when it gets released.

I've never played the first bad company, but all the others in the series. I just hope that it plays almost as well as bf2 online.

Don't see the big deal, it'll no doubt be the same partners as BF2/BF2142 and plenty of clans rented servers from them, infact much of what are left are clan/community servers rented from partners, such as Multiplay etc.

Exactly. My multiplay dedi been playing BF2, 24 hours a day for 4 1/2 years now (apart from when they upgraded it).

The trusted partners will be all the major companies as they are now. Will not change anything and there is no need to panic.

All I now have to do is persuade my clan to drop BF2 and pick up BC2! :D

24 slots is a bit of a killer though, nothing like a good 64 man battle. I got more than 24 paying clan members as well. Tough decisions on the way............

What game hasn't got hackers/cheats on no matter what it is they always find a way.

Oh my god.

Without a master ban list (MBL) a hacker will be banned from one server, but he'll just join another, with a master ban list, if your caught once then thats its, no more bad omcpany for you, the MBL for battlefield 2 currently sits at 17000. Thats a lot of permanently banned hackers.

MBL > Vanilla PB

Are you trying to say that in future devs just shouldnt put in ANY AC as 'all games have cheats'?

I don't know man, the unlocks do sound a bit too good to miss:

1. Improved Vehicle Armour – An Up-Armour package mounted on all vehicle types decreases the effect of both explosive and penetrating warheads, significantly improving vehicle survivability.

2. Vehicle Alternate Fire - Additional weapon packages mounted for the driver of all armoured vehicles, greatly expands the range of targets the vehicle can successfully engage and destroy.

3. Vehicle Motion Sensor – Upgraded Sensor to locate enemy units in direct proximity to the vehicle.

4. Tracer Dart Pistol – Launched by compressed air, this magnetic dart attaches to any vehicle surface, allows friendly shoulder launched rockets to lock on to and track moving targets even beyond line of sight.

2 Classic Battlefield 1943 Weapons:

5. M1A1 Submachine Gun – Popular with Paratrooper and Commando units in WW2 for its rate of fire and stopping power the M1A1 is still seen in the hands of paramilitaries today. Reliable but heavy this classic weapon is still a powerful force in the hands of a Battlefield Veteran.

6. M1911 Pistol – Adopted in 1911 by the US Army the M1911 saw heavy service in WW1, WW2, Korea and Vietnam. Highly customised M1911 are still favored by Special Operations forces for its reliability and the power of its large .45 calibre round.

But you will be able to unlock all of those anyway surely? I suppose then it comes down to how long it takes to gain 'unlocks'.

So am I right in believing you cannot pre-purchase and get the BETA and the unlocks?

To too bothered re the unlocks tbh, basic weapons > all the other weapons.

Order with play >> cancel once you get a key then order with game (can order both now and just cancel the play one when you get a key)
