Duke Nukem himself all but confirms Duke Nukem Forever

Re the original post, unfortunately I wouldn't take that sort of response to a question to mean much either positive or negative, as it could be that he's unable to talk because there is work under way/they are hoping for a release (but nothing announced or talks are still ongoing), but equally it could be because there is some legal action under way in which case talking about it is generally a bad thing without clearing it with legal advisers first, and it could be years before it's cleared up.

I would love to see a new Nukem, but I'm not going to get my hopes up, as I've been waiting something like 10 years.
 
The whole shutting down could have been a clever publicity ploy.

Take Two own the rights, and so could still in theory bring it out - they'd sell enough copies to make a profit, after all it was Brouchard's money that was urinated down the drain.

However - the reason Jon St John can't talk about DNF is because of the ongoing court case between 3DR and T2.
 
It's absolute madness.

We want Duke Nukem. I would sacrafice one thousand ****e EA yearly updates to just have a decent new Duke game
 
lol the game was ready for release last year but they was 6 million short and take two wouldnt provide it so thats when they decided to pull the plug but i don't know maybe if the right financial backer came knocking the game could be release but somehow i think i got more chance of biting my forehead

Wasn't quite his money though it was T2's. They basically wished it all away then went back with a few screenshots and asked for more money at which point T2 canned them.

Basically now T2 will ask for the rights to the game and get rid of most of the current dev team and develop a game to try and claw the money back.

I don't doubt we will see another DN game - but the people who think it will be the 'gaming saviour' are wrong.

forget about it, even if it does come out it's going to be rubbish. You can't have development for that long and have anything good. It's goign to be a shamble of ideas loosely knitted together at the seems.

I think it was all 3DRs money?

They went to T2 when they needed money, and in the end didn't get enough.

T2 own some of the publishing rights, but they don't own the IP rights. So T2 can't bring it out because it doesn't belong to them.

I think so too - would you back a game that's the most infamous vapourware ever? If I had so much money I could afford to take a punt with millions of pounds and not care if I lost it, then I might. Otherwise, no.

They are - there's a trilogy coming out for phones and suchlike. Not made by 3DR, obviously, so they're actually being released. They're mediocre.

3DR sold the publishing rights for physical boxed copies years ago to some company, I forget which, for $400K if I recall correctly. T2 then bought the publishing rights from that company for $2M. 3DR didn't get any of that $2M, obviously. There is talk of some money given from T2 to 3DR, but also talk of it not happening. Since no-one is saying anything outside of court, it's not clear what money went where. 3DR ran out of their own money and asked T2 for some. T2 said no, 3DR stopped development. T2 sued 3DR for the money T2 paid for the publishing rights. 3DR is arguing that they didn't get that money and never promised to make the game anyway, so they're not liable.

So it was all 3DR's money they frittered away except for the relatively small amount they got for publishing rights, which didn't come from T2 anyway.
