Battlefield BC2 looking dam sweet

Exactly. My multiplay dedi been playing BF2, 24 hours a day for 4 1/2 years now (apart from when they upgraded it).

The trusted partners will be all the major companies as they are now. Will not change anything and there is no need to panic.

All I now have to do is persuade my clan to drop BF2 and pick up BC2! :D

24 slots is a bit of a killer though, nothing like a good 64 man battle. I got more than 24 paying clan members as well. Tough decisions on the way............

No dedi server files KILLS the game cause it WILL be rife with hackers as your server which your getting ripped off on will not have any streaming to an MBL as they cant support it.

Oh my god.

Without a master ban list (MBL) a hacker will be banned from one server, but he'll just join another, with a master ban list, if your caught once then thats its, no more bad omcpany for you, the MBL for battlefield 2 currently sits at 17000. Thats a lot of permanently banned hackers.

MBL > Vanilla PB

Are you trying to say that in future devs just shouldnt put in ANY AC as 'all games have cheats'?

It was more a reply to this

Theyre looking into pb streaming, plus dedi servers still have admins on hand unlike mw2.

I hope they sort the cheaters out as i never found a issue in BF2 unless i joined a dodgy server. Hence if they aren't allowing the server file to be released on non official hosting then surly this will clamp down on cheats be able to test their hacks. a MBL would be great but i think each administered server will ban the cheats accordingly.
With each new engine a new hack has to be devised, frostbite engine should be fresh enough for the hackers to not be around for the first few weeks.

I think thats basically a good portion of the reason they don't want to release them publically. We'll just have to wait and see how it pans out as obviously things could change based on the "beta".

i think that basically they thought hey lets charge them for our own dedis just like mw2 cash cow alert.

if it kicks off hard like mw2 they probably will have some backup plan

All the big games have hacks and its never going to change especially when ranked play is part of the package, also remember that Punkbuster is a lot harder to bypass than the pathetic VAC which is in mw2,Punkbuster is also updated more frequently than VAC.If you constanly got caught hacking on BF2 you would get a GUID ban which means that your cd-key would be banned and you would have to buy a new one.If you get caught hacking again and again and again you will recieve a Hardware Ban,this is where Evenbalance(makers of Punkbuster)Ban your Hardware like your Hardrives, motherboard, etc so you have to buy new hardware(PC) or spoof your Hardware with a spoofer to bypass the Hardware Ban.You can also recieve a Stats Reset on your account also.Even the best hacking sites have days where PB catches up with them and all the subscribers are banned from that particlar site until the Coder goes aways and does his magic again to bypass Punkbuster...i would not worry about hackers too much with Punkbuster as the Penalty is very high if your caught. There will be hackers but they will be few and far between. In the old days of bf2 it was very hard to tell if somebody was hacking but nowadays its quite easy if you know what your looking for,the whole BF community are more clued up against hackers than what they was 5 years ago:)Anybody remember the legendary Nitro91?(what an idiot LoL)He was the guy who was responsible for Evenbalance issuing mass hardware Bans on the whole hacking community in early 2006,what he did was took a picture of himself using fraps achieveing Sergeant Major rank(which was the highest rank you could get before the 1.3 patch)he then posted a picture in the http://bf2s.com/ forum achieveing the rank, but what he forget to do was turn his hacks off!He must have been stoned or something to do that,The BF2 community went crazy and demanded Evenbalance do something about it which they did by shutting down several major Bf2 hacking sites in early 2006, as before the Nitro91 incident people knew that Hacks could be "out there" but they was not really sure if the worked including myself,it was a big shock to the community and many players got a lot wiser to hacking from the nitro incident,i would not worry about hacking too much as you lose everything if your caught with PB and they all get caught eventually,i know this is for BF2 but i think the PB detection will be same if not better for BC2.

if you go to this site hit the search button and enter nitro91 you will see loads of theads concering him,hes probably the most famous Hacker ever and a nOOb.

this was the picture he tried to edit with MS paint after he had posted it and also the reason why Evenbalance got out there BIG BAD BANNING HAMMER!

Actually from what ive read dice don't get anything from server rentals, or EA for that matter. They have server partners but really they need partners to get boxes online for the game anyway.

Im trying to find where i read that but i remember seeing something saying that they don't get anything from the server companies.

From what i remember the deal for past bf games was EA get servers online from companies instead of having to host their own, which would obviously cost them money.

Read into all of this a bit more. Punkbuster is a piece of **** to get through, it is streaming to masterban lists which ultimately stops hackers in the servers because once they are caught hacking and banned by admins, they get banned in all servers, this is a player based thing not involving a face corporation and is therefore much more efficient. HOWEVER we dont actually need to worry any more as on of the smaller MBL teams will offer streaming support despite the biggest (PBBans) not

Actually that makes a lot of sense, had always wondered how Ea provide dedicated servers for all their console games (no mean feat!). Regardless though there is a large element of greed in there, no doubt if the server providers get more custom from Ea games they will give EA more servers

What ea console games feature dedi servers?

iirc only the ps3 supports 3rd party dedis, and xbox will only run dedis if you rent them at extortionate prices from Microsoft which is why most games on consoles just use local hosting like mw2.

yes,but you still recieve the penaltys that i listed above if your caught by punkbuster period,MBL stops you playing in a wide variety of servers, wheras a PB hardware ban stops you playing indefinitely with ANYGAME on ANY SERVER that runs PB!!You do not want a HW BAN as your pretty much fooked

PunkBuster incorporates a system called global banning. Either the GUID (generated from the CD key[citation needed]) or parts of the computer hardware are banned from PunkBuster enabled servers. Most cheats simply will get a detection, but cheats that interfere with PunkBuster's software could get a global GUID ban. This will disallow access to PunkBuster enabled servers for that particular game. Cheats which are even more interfering could end up getting the user banned from all PunkBuster enabled games by a hardware ban.
As of June 30, 2004, Even Balance has incorporated the usage of unique hardware identifiers to permanently ban players from all PunkBuster enabled servers who raise a violation that corresponds to hacking or interfering with PunkBuster's normal operation and therefore violating the EULA.
Even Balance uses multiple private one-way hashes[citation needed] so that no serial number information for individual computers can be determined by admins or anyone else who may try to obtain this information from a hardware GUID.
PunkBuster only gives a hardware ban if memory scans show that a cheat that is known to circumvent or disrupt PunkBuster's normal operation or its facilities is activated.
As with previous PunkBuster GUID global bans, the new hardware GUID bans are permanent and will not be lifted. Even Balance has not disclosed which hardware parts are used to ban players, but trial and error has shown[citation needed] that the hardware GUID is based on the serial numbers of all available hard drives but not the MAC addresses.
According to their EULA, Even Balance has the final say in matters of banning.

this can only be good news for the pc version:)

Yup, the machinegun explacements getting bulletproof glass is one of the better ones, in all the beta vids ive seen people generally avoid using them as snipers get a little stiffy when they see people on them. Not anymore it seems.

yeap, similar to what i said Thorpy, looks like there still issuing the HW Bans for persistent offenders...HACKERS BEWARE!!;)
I know of people who have been caught hacking and they changed there nic card and hardrives...when they logged onto a server they were still HW banned!Maybe you have to change your motherboard and memory as well...who knows..best solution dont hack and play legit, more sense of Achievement when you do it legit :-)
